Friday, January 20th features the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks playing for the first of two scheduled meetings this season. Miami will host the second match on April 1st.
Both teams last played on Wednesday with the Heat defeating the Pelicans 124-98 while the Mavericks lost 122-130 to the Hawks.

Miami dominated the paint (64 to 48) and glass 43-37 while also winning assists (37-27) and steals categories (11-5). They forced 18 turnovers scoring 24 points off those miscues.

Jason Kidd isn’t happy with his squad’s defensive effort and with the team losing their sixth of the last eight the head coach referred to the Hawks win as ‘shoot around’.
On the positive side of the equation, the Mavericks got two core players back in Josh Green who missed the last 20-games due to an elbow sprain, and Dorian Finney-Smith who missed 14 games with an adductor strain.
Doncic led the Mavs with 30 points while Christian Wood was just shy of a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds.

On defense, the Mavs have slipped lately regressing in each of the three categories. They allow 112.7 points per game which rank 12th. In terms of efficiency, opponents are shooting 48.1% from the field and 35.7% from the perimeter ranking 25th and 14th respectively.
The Mavericks score 112.9 points per game ranking 18th overall. As for their efficiency, they shoot 47.2% from the field and 35.9%.from the perimeter ranking 17th and 15th respectively.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle) is probable. Christian Wood (thumb fracture), McKinley Wright IV (foot), and Maxi Kleber (torn hamstring) are out indefinitely.
