Miami has looked really good. Most pegged them for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference but now I think they might be top four.
Atlanta looks improved. They need to play better defense but you can start to see how the pieces fit together more and more.
These teams just met in Miami on Tuesday with the Heat collecting an easy win.
Atlanta Hawks
The loss to Miami to start the week had some good in it and some very bad.
The bad was that Trae Young got hurt. He is out for this one and backing the Hawks while he is not available is not very wise.

The good was John Collins. Young gets all the pub but Collins is one of the better young big men in the league. He scored 30 and seems ready to build on last season when he scored 19.5ppg.
They are really going to lean on him without Young. The only other player who scored in double figures against Miami in the loss was Jabari Parker.
Rookies Cam Reddish and DeAndre Hunter both started against Miami. They have NBA bodies already but they are not producing, they had a combined 10 points. Teams are going to play off them until they prove they can make shots – 0 for 8 combined from 3.
Atlanta needs someone to step up in Young’s absence but I am not sure where that comes from.
Fading them and looking at some unders for any game he doesn’t play looks like a sharp way to go.
Miami Heat
Miami has gotten off to a strong start even though Jimmy Butler has only played in one game (21 points against the Hawks). In his absence I was impressed.

It is hard not to love the game and name of Bam Adebayo. His energy never seems to drop and his game is rising. It is a small sample size but so far he has doubled his scoring and upped his rebounding to a combo of 16/11.
What stands out for Miami is how athletic they are. Against the Hawks they started a backcourt of Justise Winslow and Kendrick Nunn. Winslow has become an effective playmaker and Nunn is a good shooter.
They used Tyler Herro and Goran Dragic off the bench and the duo combined for 50 points, efficiently too. Their top 8 is a lot better than I expected it would be.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Over is 6-2 in MIA last 8 overall.
- Under is 25-12 in MIA last 37 Thu. games.
- ATL are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Thu. games.
- ATL are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall.
- Under is 35-17 in the last 52 meetings.
Free Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
With Young out you have to go with Miami, even on the road. Their options are just a lot more established. They can punish the Hawks physically too.
The Hawks rookies just don’t look ready to contribute other than playing some defense, or at least Hunter can. Reddish shows some playmaking skills for a guy his size but you don’t have to guard him yet.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Heat -6.5
Miami should win this one going away. There should be no reason to sweat it. Just a really good spot to back them and fade Atlanta.
