Saturday, February 5th the Memphis Grizzlies playing the Orlando Magic for the first time this season. Memphis will host the second match on March 5th.
Both teams got a nice rest having last played Wednesday when the Grizzlies beat the Knicks 120-108 while the Magic won a 119-118 battle versus the Pacers.
Last season, the squads met twice with the teams splitting the regular-season series and each winning on their home court. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 25 of their 49 matches.

The Grizzlies just keep rolling along and putting their stamp on this season as the biggest surprise and best NBA League Pass team to watch.
While Ja Morant has ascended into the conversation for Most Valuable Player it’s more likely he’ll draw consideration for Most Improved as the league searches for a way to recognize his ascent.
The irony of the latter award is his teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. might very well deserve equal consideration for it given his own growth this year. Not necessarily in terms of production although he’s posting career-bests in most categories, rather, for his defensive leadership.
Triple J is the man who is securing the Grizzlies on the defensive end providing 2.3 blocks per game and calling out the defense. The next time you catch a Grizzlies game focus on Jackson and how pivotal he is to orchestrating his teammates getting in their spots.
Ja Morant is questionable versus the Magic with a sore foot with the likelihood the Grizzlies are viewing this as an opportunity to get their star some extra rest.
Dillon Brooks remains out healing from the sprained ankle that was slated to keep him out between three and five weeks. The injury occurred on January 8th making his return date any time between now and February 12th.
Orlando Magic
Although the Magic will be headed to the lottery it’s clear they are trying to build some momentum as they finish the second half of their season.
They have ample leeway given they hold an edge over the closest tanking team (Pistons) with one extra loss and a four-game losing pad versus the Rockets who would have one of the coveted bottom-three lottery spots if the season ended today.
With this padding and ability to retain the bottom seed the Magic have seemingly flipped a switch winning three of four matches and four of their last six. And those victories aren’t just versus fellow tankers (Pistons, Pacers) but also against elite squads like the Bulls and Mavericks.
It certainly begs the question of how productive and successful this current active group will be once Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz return to the everyday rotation.
