*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Thursday, March 2nd. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, March 3rd.
Memphis Grizzlies
The last eight games are indicative of the Grizzlies season – they are 6-2 in that period having won three in a row but five of the six wins occurred at home.
If the Grizzlies want to be relevant in the playoffs they’ll need to clean up their road performances which will be much easier once Steven Adams returns.
Stats
Meanwhile, offensively, the Grizzlies score 115.9 points per game ranked ninth overall. Memphis shoot 46.9% from the field ranking 18th, and 34.2% from the perimeter ranking 24th.
Memphis still owns the best opponent field goal percentage of 44.7% while limiting opponents to 111.6 points per game and 35.6% ranking sixth and 12th respectively.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Steven Adams C (OUT indefinitely —PCL strain)
Denver Nuggets
Nikola Jokic continues to deliver a virtuoso season serving up one of the most impressive seasons I’ve witnessed in my lifetime obsession with the NBA. Although it’s doubtful Michael Jordan will ever be usurped in my mind, Jokic is the player I currently enjoy watching the most.
No Kendrick Perkins, he’s not in the top 10 in scoring but the epitome of an MVP (in my opinion) is a player who could drop 50 on any given night but instead of jacking up shots or carrying all the offensive burden elects to do EVERYTHING else that leads to winning.
In Jokic’s case that includes making everyone around him better and their job easier just by his mere presence on the hardwood.
Stats
On the positive side, Denver possesses the best offense in the league highlighted by scoring 117.2 points per game ranking sixth. Denver is shooting the best field goal percentage of 51.0% as well as the top-ranked perimeter efficiency of 39.2%.
To be sure, defensively the Nuggets are improving. So far, they allow opponents to score 112.8 points per game which ranks 13th while limiting foes to 48.0% from the field and 34.6% from deep ranking 24th and sixth respectively.
Injury Report
Denver hadn’t submitted their updated injury report as of posting but to this is who is likely on the list…
- Zeke Nnaji PF (OUT- shoulder)
- Collin Gillespie PG (OUT – leg fracture)

- Also, the Grizzlies are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against Denver.
- By comparison, Denver is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games.
- In conclusion, the Nuggets are 8-1 SU in their last 9 games when hosting Memphis.
Free Memphis Grizzlies vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
This could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals as the two top teams in the West and whoever wins will own the tiebreaker.
That said barring a complete melt down by the Nuggets it’s hard to fathom them losing their five-game padding with just 19 games remaining to play (Memphis has 21 games remaining).
Factor in the Grizz won’t have Steven Adams to help with Jokic and while I’m tempted to take the points I can’t ignore the Memphis is 12-18 on the road and both games have been won by double-digits.
