The Grizzlies’ seven-game winning streak came to an end on Martin Luther King Jr. Day as the young upstarts lost to the Pelicans 126-116. The young squad gave up a 38-20 second quarter but fought back in the final frame with a 39-28 output but it was too little too late.

Despite the loss, Memphis remains in the eighth seed but holds just a half-game lead over the ninth-place Spurs.
In the loss, Jonas Valanciunas posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Dillon Brooks led the way for the Grizzlies scoring 31 points. Ja Morant came up just shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine assists.
Jaren Jackson Jr. (19), and De’Anthony Melton (10) were the other double-figure scorers.

The Celtics were struggling of late losing six of their last nine games so the win over the Lakers should serve to get the team back on track. It wasn’t just a victory it was a statement as Boston annihilated LA 139-107.
It was also the first time Kemba Walker has defeated a team with LeBron James on it. Boston won every quarter never giving the Lakers an opportunity to catch up or try to get in a rhythm.
In the victory, Enes Kanter produced a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds while Jayson Tatum led the way in scoring with 27 points. Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown both pitched in with 20 points and Gordon Hayward chipped in 16 points.
Kemba Walker is the team leader in scoring (22.1) and assists (5.0) while Jayson Tatum leads rebounding (6.9) and steals (1.4). Gordon Hayward tops field goal percent (50.9%), and Daniel Theis is the blocks (1.4) leader.
Kemba Walker is playing with a sore right knee but expected to suit up for this match. Jaylen Brown is suffering from a sore right ankle he sprained a few games back and is listed as questionable.
Robert Williams III (bone edema, hip) is out until late January.
