Thursday, March 18th, finds the Memphis Grizzlies facing the Atlanta Hawks for the second and final time this season. Atlanta won the initial match 132-100 on November 26th.
Memphis last played on Tuesday pummeling the Pacers 135-102 while the Hawks got into a shoot-out with the Hornets and lost the match 116-106 and swapped positions on the Eastern Conference ladder as well as the tiebreak.
Last season, the teams played twice with each winning on the road. The Hawks hold the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 31 of their 51 matches.

With news Stephen Curry will be out indefinitely the Grizzlies should be in a prime position to close out the season by holding onto the second seed which would allow them to likely face the Wolves or Clippers in the first round of the playoffs.

Atlanta Hawks
Considering how important the last game was for seeding it’s somewhat surprising the Hawks elected to not even attempt to play defense. For a team that got all the way to the Eastern Conference FInals last season to be barely hanging onto a play-in seed, it’s shocking.
They’ve lucked out by virtue of the Wizards seemingly investing (whether intentional or not) in the tank. Their play this season and lack of defensive commitment points to the players expecting to automatically return simply because they got so far last year.
But numerous Eastern teams improved this offseason. Moreover, all the teams ahead of them (other than the ninth-seeded Hornets) play consistent defense.
Trae Young (quad) and Danilo Gallinari (biceps) are both questionable while John Collins (foot) was downgraded to out for Friday.
