LA got here by virtue of defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the seven-eight play-in game.

Injuries were the other major issue Memphis dealt with, first adjusting to the loss of Steven Adams and later Brandon Clarke. Their absences were going to be felt regardless of who they faced but having to game plan for Anthony Davis will put a ton of pressure on Jaren Jackson Jr.
Triple J played great down the stretch but has a tendency to get in early foul trouble and facing a media and league darling like the Lakers will undoubtedly mean he won’t be given the benefit of the doubt with the whistle.

Meanwhile, offensively, the Grizzlies score 116.9 points per game ranked ninth overall. Memphis shoot 47.5% from the field ranking 16th, and 35.1% from the perimeter ranking 23rd.

Factoring in the two key injuries on Memphis also offers reason to give LA more of a chance.
That said, relying on the health of LeBron and AD is a risky endeavor at best with James not looking as mobile in that play-in game, and begs the question of how healthy his foot is.
Memphis also boasts the exciting Morant who can win games all by himself plus his bravado resonates throughout the roster.
If Desmond Bane and Luke Kennard get hot from the perimeter it’ll be a major x-factor for the Grizz who haven’t been a great 3-point shooting team overall and are facing the second-best perimeter defense.
I’m not sure Dillon Brooks’ comments about wanting to face LeBron were wise because it gives James ammunition and a desire to make him eat his words about sending LA home early.
Still, I’m more in favor (whistle notwithstanding) of the Grizzlies taking this series although I could see it going the distance.
