Entering the fourth game of the Western Conference semi-finals the Lakers will look to take a commanding 3-1 lead while the Houston Rockets attempt to draw the series even.
Los Angeles Lakers
Playoff Rondo is a real thing and he became the x-factor in the Lakers Game 3 victory. His 21 points, nine assists, and three pivotal 3-point shots were a much-appreciated boost to the output of superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Most important is Rondo’s ability to run the team when James sits and his calm makes the second unit run so much more smoothly.
James also delivered a strong game registering 29 points in the first half and went on to finish the game with an impressive fourth quarter as well. The superstar delivered 36 points, five assists and seven rebounds plus four blocks.
Anthony Davis seemingly figured out there is no Rockets player tall enough to defend him in close and delivered his own big effort via a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds along with six assists.
Kyle Kuzma scored 14 points as the only other Laker to reach double-digits.
James who has dealt with a sore groin recently also has a calf contusion while JaVale McGee is still nursing an ankle sprain but both are expected to play Thursday. Dion Waiters is doubtful with a sore groin.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets enter Game 4 banged up and potentially without Danuel House who missed the last game for what was called ‘personal reasons’.
As it turns out House defied the rules of the bubble so the league and NBPA are mired in discussions on whether he’ll be allowed to play again in the series.
Although House did not exit the bubble the wording in the ESPN article implies he may have entertained a guest who wasn’t approved.
The Rockets two superstars carried Houston with James Harden coming just short of a triple-double with 33 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
Russell Westbrook bounced back from a poor Game 2 to produce 30 points on an efficient 13 of 24 field goals and 2 of 4 from deep with six assists and eight rebounds.
Jeff Green (16), Eric Gordon (10), and Robert Covington (10) were the other double-figure scorers.
The other big injury concern is Covington who took a shot to the head and is suffering from headaches but still expected to play.

Free Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
The Rockets proved they can light up the hardwood with 40 point quarters and the Lakers proved they can shut down a game defensively when they are dialed in.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Rockets +5
Although LA has a tendency to take their foot off the gas it’s getting too late in the process to not take every game and all four quarters seriously.
Couple that with Harden knowing if he can lead his team even the series it would go a long way to erasing his failure to produce offensively in big games.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
