LeBron James (knee) did not play. He’s listed as day-to-day.
The Lakers have fallen five games behind the Clippers for the eighth spot in the Western Conference.
It isn’t too late for them to slide out of the expanded playoffs completely, either. They are just 3.0 and 3.5 games ahead of the Trail Blazers and Spurs, respectively. Either one of those teams could knock LA out of the top ten.
Of course, that isn’t the plan. LA can still get Anthony Davis back in time to win its way into the eighth seed.
All that would do, however, is set up a first round matchup with the Phoenix Suns, who knocked the Lakers out of last year’s playoffs.

Houston Rockets
All three of Houston’s losses to the Lakers this season came last year, once in October, once in November and once in December.
It isn’t not as if Houston has greatly improved since the New Year, however.
The Rockets have won just once since the All-Star Break and just twice since the start of February.
The most recent loss came in Miami, 123–106, on Monday. Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green combined to score 42 for Houston.
Tyler Herro scored a game-high 31 off the bench for the Heat.
This will be Houston’s third game in four days.
