Tuesday, November 5th finds interconference foes the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls facing each other for the first time this year.
Last season, the squads played twice with the Lakers sweeping the series and are currently on a five game win streak over the Bulls. The Lakers hold the all-time record having bested the Bulls in 91 of their 154 matches.

The Dwight Howard reclamation project is in full gear with him stringing together solid performances. Howard has seemingly rediscovered some of his prowess from his time as Defensive Player of the Year.

He delivered a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds in the win over the Spurs. LeBron James registered a triple-double of 21 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds.
Anthony Davis also got into the double-double action (25 points/11 rebounds) and is no doubt thrilled by the Howard revelation given his preference to play the power forward position instead of the center position.
After seasons of taking plays off on the defensive end, LeBron has started this season fully invested and it’s paying immediate dividends. The Lakers rank second in opponent field goal percent (40.2%) and third in opponent points per game (99.3).
Avery Bradley suffered a right lower-leg contusion forcing him out of the last game and is listed as questionable for this match. Meanwhile, Rajon Rondo’s calf remains an issue as the team switched his questionable status to “out indefinitely”.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls failed to score 100 points for the third time in seven matches this season. It’s an oddity Chicago is having so much trouble scoring given their personnel.

Most befuddling is this young athletic squad isn’t pushing pace ranking 18th among their peers. Likewise, Jim Boylen was adamant there would be a strong defensive showing this season but they also rank 18th in that category.
Zach LaVine led the way with 21 points in the team’s loss to the Pacers. The guard was joined by Wendell Carter Jr. who was arguably the best player on the court registering a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Thaddeus Young served up 12 points off the bench while Lauri Markkanen was the other double-digit scorer with 11 points. Although Markkanen didn’t shoot the ball well (3 of 9) it’s concerning he got so few shots. The power forward also took only nine field goal attempts in the prior game versus the Pistons.
Four players took more shots than Markkanen and while LaVine is notorious for jacking it up it’s the fact three others are seemingly ranking ahead of Lauri in the pecking order.
Otto Porter Jr. had to leave the game versus Indiana after tweaking his ankle and is questionable for this match.
