The Clippers have to travel East for their fourth straight road contest on Thursday but they’ve been playing very well away from LA this season. Los Angeles is 2-1 on their most recent swing and although the Pacers have been playing better, Wednesday is a very winnable game for LA.
Indiana seems to be finding their groove without Victor Oladipo as they’ve rattled off three straight wins. The Pacers looked dominant on Tuesday, stomping the Lakers 136-94 even though Indiana was in leg two of a B2B. That said, Wednesday is Indiana’s 3rd game in 4 nights, does fatigue get to them?
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers are 15-13 on the road this season and they have wins in Detroit and Charlotte on this most recent road swing. An 18 point loss at Toronto can be forgiven considering LA was playing in their second game in as many nights. As it stands Los Angeles sits in the 8th seed in the West.
Offense has definitely been key for the Clippers’ run lately. LA boasts a top 10 unit in points/game (6th), field goal percentage (10th), and 3-point percentage (2nd). LA has scored at least 111 points in 6 of 7.
What makes the Clippers such a solid bet on Wednesday is that they are getting their offensive production from a variety of players. Lou Williams has especially gone off lately with two 30-point nights out of three road games on the most recent trip. Tobias Harris just put up 34 vs. the Hornets while Patrick Beverley, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Montrezl Harrell have all had at least 2 good games on the road swing.
Unfortunately for LA, their strength plays right into what is Indiana’s strong point and that’s the Pacers defense. Nate McMillan’s team has held 9 of 10 opponents to 107 points or less as they rank 2nd in the league in points/game allowed and 5th in opponents field goal percentage.
LA still has to visit Boston and Minnesota on this road trip so do they play a bit complacent on Thursday? The Pacers are playing in their 3rd game in 4 nights, but they know that even after tonight there are three more home games and then the all-star break.
The great thing about the Pacers’ 136-94 win on Tuesday vs. the Lakers (with Lebron James in the lineup) was that it allowed them to rest their key players and not sacrifice Thursday’s game with the Clippers. Bojan Bogdanovic is the only Indianapolis starter that logged more than 25 minutes and even his 32:42 was manageable with Wednesday off.
The Pacers were on fire Tuesday hitting field goal attempts to the clip of 57%. Indiana’s top 5 three point shooting percentage offense was also on display as they went 19-34 (55.9%) from downtown. Five Indiana players scored at least 17 points vs. the Lakers so the Pacers also developed some depth in the process.
Indiana’s defense can keep them close Wednesday but how will their offense do? Considering the Clippers have allowed 115 points or more to 4 of 5 opponents the answer to that question is ‘probably pretty well.’ LA struggles especially up front (Blake Griffin 24/11 on Saturday, Serge Ibaka 16/12 on Sunday) so it should be Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis leading the Pacers in this one.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Clippers are 4-1 ATS their last 5 road games
- Clippers are 0-4 ATS their last four games vs. a team with a winning % above .600
- Pacers are 2-6 ATS their last 8 overall
- Clippers are 0-4 ATS the last four H2H meetings
Free Los Angeles Clippers vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction:
The Clippers have been a solid road team this season but they run into a team with a lot of momentum behind them in the Pacers. Indiana is 19-7 on their own court and is coming off an absolute dismantling of the Lakers. They have a very solid shot of doing that to another LA team in the Clippers on Wednesday.

The Pacers are strong up front and although LA’s backcourt is going to be great, it’s not going to be enough.
