LA Lakers vs. Houston Rockets Odds & Last 5
For the past two campaigns, the Lakers have won the regular-season series, two games to one versus the Rockets.
There is a long-storied history of postseason meetings between these clubs as they’ve met on nine previous occasions. LA has won on six of those occasions, including the last time they tipped off in 2020.
To finish the season, the Rockets hit their stride, winning nine of their last 10 matches. LA had won 13 of 14 but then got hit by injuries to Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves, and the team finished 3-3 through the final six contests.
Houston is favored by 9.5 points with an over/under of 205.5 points.

LA Lakers vs. Houston Rockets bottom line:
Where is Houston’s offense? I know Ime Udoka is a stellar defensive-minded coach, but he has a slew of assistants, so surely one of them is tasked with the offense.
The Rockets looked like they were lost in Game 1, and even with Durant back for Game 2, they still struggled mightily.
I’m sorry, but the Lakers are NOT that good, but even missing their top two scorers, they look like contenders the way Houston is playing. Perhaps the bright lights are just too much for Houston’s youngsters, who have seemingly forgotten their defensive mindset and how to score.

Lakers Rockets Free Pick: Lakers +9.5
Here is my Lakers Rockets free pick.
How on earth the oddsmakers favored the Rockets by 9.5 points after their performances in two games in LA is perplexing.
Sure, the Rockets play much better at home, but this team is struggling to put points on the board against a severely undermanned Lakers squad.
Kevin Durant did his best to lead his squad but ran out of steam in the second half. The question is, does Houston have anyone that can step up and help KD, or are all these youngsters snakebitten?
LA is keying in on Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun on the defensive end, which may speak to some of the troubles the Rockets have had both in the series and with their coach Ime Udoka who seems to have turned again on Sheppard.
Once again, the Rockets anhilated the Lakers in shots, getting up 89 field goals compared to 72, but those 17 extra attempts didn’t equate to scoring as they shot just 40.4%. Conversely, the Lakers shot 45.8%. The perimeter was even scarier as Houston shot 24% compared to 46% by LA.
The Rockets have dominated the glass this season, but LA is holding its own, and while Houston was +20 in the paint, they need to push the pace and get more easy scores on the fast break.
To put it as bluntly as possible, the Rockets need to rediscover their identity and enter Friday in a must-win scenario. I’m not buying what they’re selling, however, and I certainly can’t invest in them winning by 10 points, so I’ll take the points.
