Tuesday, March 8th, the LA Clippers, and Golden State Warriors play for the fourth and final time this season. The Warriors lead the series 2-1 having picked up victories on October 21st (115-113) and November 28th (105-90) while the Clippers won February 14th (119-104).
The Clippers played Sunday losing to New York 93-116 while the Warriors played Saturday losing 116-124 to the Lakers.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Clippers taking two of three contests. The Warriors hold the all-time record having bested the Clippers in 134 of their 226 matches.
LA Clippers
Despite playing without Kawhi Leonard all season and Paul George appearing in only 26 games the Clippers have managed to stay competitive holding the eighth seed with six more wins than the ninth-place Lakers.
They are 4.5 games up on their LA counterparts and 2.5 games back of the seventh-place Wolves. A secure sixth-place seed seems unlikely with Denver up 5.0 games on them.
The option of tanking was never a consideration given the Thunder own their draft pick and it’s unprotected. Ty Lue has kept his charges playing to a specific style and identity and now there are murmurs the superstars could make a return.
Yes, that’s Paul George. And yes, Paul George is shooting. pic.twitter.com/CNcFSb81z6

Imagine being one of the top two seeds and fighting all year for that position only to have to play the Clippers with a well-rested Leonard and Paul as your reward.
George was seen taking shots with the injured arm last week and Chris Haynes reported Leonard was ahead of schedule. The question – is there fire behind this smoke?
Robert Covington (personal) is out Tuesday. Norman Powell (toe), Jason Preston (foot), George (elbow), and Leonard (knee) are all out indefinitely. Jay Scrubb (toe) is lost for the season.
Golden State Warriors
What felt initially like an All-Star hangover has become far more serious with the Warriors on a four-game losing streak and two wins in their last 10 games. Dive a little deeper and there are more concerning warning signs.
Through the first 37 games, the Dubs had a 78.3 winning percentage (29-8) but in their next 27 games, their win percentage dipped to 51.8% (14-13), including 13 matches versus sub .500 teams.
The reason those dates are relevant is the last 27 represent the time Draymond Green has been out of the lineup. The defense has suffered in his absence evidenced by the pre-All-Star top-ranked defense and post-All-Star 23rd ranked defense.
It was a given Klay Thompson would need time to ease back after more than two seasons off the court, but perhaps less anticipated was how much his reintegration would impact the others on the roster.
Jordan Poole, in particular, has struggled. He was averaging 17.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and a 1.0 steal shooting 44.5% from the field and 33.7% from deep.
Since Thompson’s return, he’s averaging 11.7 points 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and no steals while shooting 36.7% from the field and 26.3% from deep. As a volume shooter and typically handling the ball more, it’s clearly taking him time to adjust to his new role.
All of these situations might iron out organically especially if/when Green returns. The question here – is will that happen this year?
Juan Toscano-Anderson (illness) is probable, Otto Porter Jr. (illness), Andre Iguodala (back), and Gary Payton II (knee) are out the team is resting Curry, Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins. Green (calf) and James Wiseman (knee) are out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Clippers are 6-4 in their last 10 meetings against each other
- The Clippers are 6-4 ATS in the last 10 matches
- The over/under is 5-5 in the teams’ last 10 head to head matches
Free LA Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Prediction:
With close to half the team out and the majority of the core, I’m not sure how the Warriors are favored (side-eye). So, yeah take the points and the Clippers.
