Neither the Bulls nor the Lakers will be in this year’s postseason, but this is a clear case of not all lottery teams being equal. The Bulls have actually played decent basketball down the stretch and appear to be building a positive locker room culture for the first time in…well, it seems like the entire post-Michael Jordan era.

Ahead of their blowout loss to the Boston Celtics at home on Saturday, it was announced that both Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball are being shut down for the year with blood clots and an injured ankle, respectively. It’s the right move considering this team is officially in tank mode with the team all but actually eliminated from the playoffs, but it’s not going to do anything to repair the broken culture.

Against Chicago, look for LeBron (assuming he plays) to put up bonkers numbers while the team also showcases someone like Mo Wagner.

Wagner had a good showing on Saturday against Boston, but Kyle Kuzma’s status will play a big role in what Wagner is able to do.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls have gone .500 in their last 10 overall, but they’ve also lost two straight.

They fell in both games of a home-and-home with the Detroit Pistons, having won their previous outing against the Philadelphia 76ers but also having lost two prior before that.

Against the Lakers, Chicago can’t worry about LeBron James. It’s really that simple.

The Bulls need to let James get his stats the same way teams have been letting Rajon Rondo chase empty stats and rebounds for years.

That’s not a fair comparison to make considering their respective levels of play at this point in their careers, but it’s still true. James alone isn’t winning games for L.A. He needs serious help, and it’s those helpers whom the Bulls need to hone in on if they want to walk away with the win.
