Wednesday, March 2nd the Indiana Pacers playing the Orlando Magic for the third and final meeting of the season and for the second time in three days. The Magic won the initial meeting 119-118 on February 2nd as well as the match on Monday (119-103).
Last season, the squads played three times with the Pacers sweeping the regular-season series. The Pacers hold the all-time record having bested the Magic in 67 of their 117 matches.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers just can’t seem to get healthy. With only 19 games left to play and over eight games back of the 10th seed to get into the play-in tournament, Indy also doesn’t have a real incentive to rush anyone back.
Better to let Myles Turner, TJ Warren, and TJ McConnell rest up. In fact, I’m surprised Indy hasn’t shut down Malcolm Brogdon to allow him extra time for the Achilles that has bothered him all season to heal.
In fact, at this point, they’d be better off trying to lose as many games as possible to improve their draft lottery odds and subsequently their pick.
For now, these games offer head coach Rick Carlisle an opportunity to implement some schemes and figure out which players he wants to retain (or move) in the offseason.
Malcolm Brogdon (Achilles) is probable while Lance Stephenson (ankle) and Chris Duarte (toe) are questionable for Wednesday.
Myles Turner (foot), T.J. McConnell (wrist), and TJ Warren (foot) are all out indefinitely. Ricky Rubio (ACL) is lost for the season.
Orlando Magic
After being off the court for an eternity rehabbing from a torn ACL, Markelle Fultz returned to the hardwood on Monday to the delight of Magic fans.
His stat line was slight but just being on the court again was a win for the youngster who posted 10 points, two rebounds, and six assists in a mere 16 minutes.
The guard must’ve been working on his shot because it looked vastly improved and more in line with how he shot coming out of Washington prior to being drafted.
It begs the question of who was working with him in Philly – that person or people shouldn’t be allowed to couch shooting if that’s what they do to a player’s shot and worse their psyche.
In the win versus Indy, Wendell Carter Jr. led the way with a double-double effort featuring 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Jalen Suggs bounced back from his embarrassing prior game where he fouled out in 14:31 with three points to deliver a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists.
Eight Magic players scored in double-digits including Franz Wagner (15), Mo Bamba (15), RJ Hampton (12), Cole Anthony (11), and Gary Harris (11).
Cole Anthony (hip) is probable while Mo Wagner (ribs) was downgraded to out for Wednesday. Jonathan Isaac (knee), and Bol Bol (foot) are out indefinitely.

Indiana Pacers vs. Orlando Magic NBA Analysis:
Little victories and accomplishments can go a long way in a season where the most common occurrence is losing. Orlando has one of those markers as they’ve been getting balanced double-digit scoring through the last few games.
Granted most of those scores are 10 and 11 points but it proves they are moving the ball and unselfish. Granted this is facing other lottery-bound teams but small wins are wins nonetheless.
Typically teams split consecutive games versus each other but with the Pacers seemingly intent on building up their loss column let’s go with the Magic winning three in a row.
