The semi-finals between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks shift back to the Mecca for Game 5 of the series. Indiana jumped on the decimated Knicks in Game 4 winning 121-89 to knot the series at two games a piece.

It was inevitable that the wear and tear would catch up the Knicks and that was clear early in Game 4 when Jalen Brunson’s shots repeatedly came up short. He shot 6 0f 17 but collected 18 points with six of those coming at the line (arguably the best flopper in the NBA).
Josh Hart in particular looked gassed and after playing entire games several times this postseason Tom Thibodeau sat him early. While Thibs is notorious for playing his top core insane minutes he needs to reconsider giving some of his reserves extra playing time BEFORE he has to due to injury.
Alec Burks and Precious Achiuwa for example have provided a lift and energy so they should be part of the rotation regardless of the health situation.
Knicks Stats
New York ranks tied for seventh offensively (117.3) and ninth defensively (112.4) while their net differential is plus +4.9 which ranks fifth overall.
In the postseason, New York ranks tied for third offensively (117.1), and 15th defensively (119.8) with a minus -2.7 net differential ranking 10th.
With the injuries to the core, the Knicks’ performance against the spread dipped but remain above .500 with a 49-42-1 record through 92 contests.

Of course, the Knicks will be fired up for this match but you have to wonder just how much juice they have left. It feels like this is a must-win for the Knicks but to reiterate my stance from Game 4, Pascal Siakam is due for a big game and if he delivers the Knicks will be in trouble.
Eight of the Knicks 10 playoff games have come down to clutch time and given how angry they were about the chirping of the Pacers in Game 4 I’d expect this match to be another close battle.
