Sunday, February 6th the Indiana Pacers face the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second of four meetings this season. Cleveland won the initial contest 108-104 on January 2nd. Indiana will host two more games between the clubs on February 11th and March 8th
Both teams last played on Friday with the Pacers losing 115-122 to the Bulls while the Cavaliers defeated the Hornets 102-101 in a wild closing few minutes of their match.
All-time the Pacers have the advantage of winning 105 of 200 matches versus the Cavaliers. Last season the teams played three times with the Pacers sweeping the regular-season series.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers haven’t had any luck this season and currently are mired by injury but particularly in the frontcourt with each of Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, Goga Bitadze, and Isaiah Jackson out.
That equated to Nikola Vucevic having free reign versus Indy on Friday where he literally faced no restrictions close to the basket. The Pacers did their best to hang in the match and Caris LeVert had a dominant performance but simply needed more help.
Specifically, LeVert served up 42 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Rookie Terry Tayler continued to put up strong performances with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds with five assists.
Taylor was joined by his two-way contract partner Dwayne Washington Jr. who added 17 points and both youngsters are giving Rick Carlisle something to think about moving forward.
Chris Duarte scored 12 points as the other double-figure contributor.
Domantas Sabonis (quarantine), Goga Bitadze (foot), and Malcolm Brogdon (Achilles) are questionable while Isaiah Jackson (ankle) is out Sunday. Myles Turner (foot), T.J. McConnell (wrist), and TJ Warren (foot) are all out indefinitely.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The league almost had a major dispute on their hands following the wild finish in Charlotte. The refs had whistled the play dead and AFTER they did Terry Rozier tossed up a 3-pointer with Ed Davis reaching out from the Cavs bench touching him.
Inexplicably the refs counted Rozier’s missed 3-pointer as well as a technical. How they didn’t review that play to determine it was wrong is beyond me but it sparked the Hornets to get back in the game and take a lead.
The Basketball Gods intervened however as Rozier got caught fouling Kevin Love who went to the line and drained both free throws to put Cleveland on top by a point.
On the final play, Miles Bridges hooked Jarrett Allen’s arm and flopped trying to draw another foul but Charlotte wasn’t going to get bailed out twice on terrible calls.
Allen seemingly sent a message to the coaches for the All-Star snub posting a massive double-double of 29 points 22 rebounds (11 offensive boards). Love added 25 points and nine rebounds while Brandon Goodwin was the only other double-figure scorer with 12 points.
Darius Garland (back) is questionable for Sunday. Lauri Markkanen (ankle) is out indefinitely while Rubio (torn ACL) and Collin Sexton (knee) are both lost for the season.

Free Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction
If it weren’t for bad luck the Pacers would have no luck at all. Of all the teams in the association they are the ones who can match up size-wise with the Cavaliers’ lengthy frontcourt.
All of the bigs have been dealing with injuries or protocols although they might get Sabonis and Bitadze back for this match. Unfortunately, the Pacers will need more than that to make this a close contest.
