Sunday, April 10th, 2022, the Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets meet for the third and final time this season. Brooklyn will be seeking the regular-season series sweep having won on October 29th (105-98) and January 5th (129-121).
The Pacers last played Saturday losing 120-133 to the 76ers in the front side of a back-to-back while the Nets held off the Cavaliers to get a big 116-109 victory and move into seventh.
Indiana Pacers
This season wasn’t exactly what the Pacers front office envisioned for their franchise but they made some astute trades mid-season and drafted well so they aren’t that far from being right back in the playoff picture next season.
Landing Tyrese Haliburton was a big coup for the Pacers as he was deemed untouchable. Since Domantas Sabonis never fit with Myles Turner it was a move that made sense for Indiana.
Jalen Smith (illness), Malcolm Brogdon (back), and Goga Bitadze are questionable for Sunday while Chris Duarte (toe), Myles Turner (foot), and T.J. McConnell (wrist) are out.
TJ Warren (foot) and Ricky Rubio (ACL) are lost for the season.
Brooklyn Nets
Although landing in the play-in tournament wasn’t what the Brooklyn Nets envisioned for their season they’ve made a move in the last few games to give themselves a shot at the top of those four seeds along with the right to host that first play-in game.
They beat the Cavaliers Friday which was a huge victory as they own the tiebreaker versus the Cavaliers now as well as against the Hawks with only the Hornets possessing the tiebreaker versus them.
For the latter to come into play the Nets would have to lose to the Pacers and the Hornets would have to beat the Wizards.
Even as they vie to land the seventh seed they’ll have no idea who the opponent is since either of Bucks or Celtics can secure that position today.
To that end, Boston and Milwaukee seem to be trying to move down to the third seed to face the Bulls instead but the Celtics have to be careful not to fall to fourth as a loss by them and a win by the 76ers would net that result and a date with the red hot Raptors.
The Nets got to this position needing to come back from a 21 point deficit versus the Knicks and followed it up by needing to hang on versus the Cavaliers after coughing up a 17-point lead.
Seth Curry (ankle) is probable for Sunday. Goran Dragic (quarantine) and Ben Simmons (back/conditioning) are out indefinitely. Joe Harris (ankle) is done for the season.
