The Washington Wizards will host the Houston Rockets for a Wednesday night contest. This is the first of two meetings between the teams. Houston enters the game as 8 point favorites with the total set at 230.5 points.

The matchup features two teams with different expectations this year. Houston is expected to be a top-5 team in the Western Conference while the Wizards are expected to be lottery bound in a shaky Eastern Conference.

Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are coming off a 116-112 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The scoreline doesn’t tell the story as Houston trailed most of the night. The Rockets used a 39-18 third quarter to erase an early deficit.

James Harden led the way with 40 points. Harden made only 8-of-22 shots, but he made 21 of 22 free throws. Russell Westbrook wound up with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists in his first game against his former team.

Houston was out-rebounded 52-40 in the contest. The key in the game was free-throws as the Rockets made 28-of-33 while the Thunder made 17-of-24. PJ Tucker added 17 points and nine rebounds for Houston in the victory.

Washington Wizards

Washington is coming off a heartbreaking 124-122 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on the road. Bradley Beal’s shot at the buzzer to tie the game was blocked by Derrick White.

Beal led the Wizards with 25 points and 11 assists but he struggled going 8-of-25 from the field. On the season Beal is averaging 20.3 points but he is only shooting 31 percent from the field.

Isaiah Thomas made his season debut going for 16 points and five assists off the bench.

Davis Bertans had a great game against his former team. The sharpshooter went 5-of-5 from three-point range in route to 23 points. Washington shot 50 percent from the field while the Spurs shot 46 percent.
