Friday, March 4th finds the Houston Rockets playing the Denver Nuggets for the third and final time this season. Denver won both prior meetings on November 6th (95-94) and January 1st (124-111).
Houston played a back-to-back set on Tuesday/Wednesday losing 113-100 to the Clippers and in 132-127 in overtime to the Jazz while Denver played Wednesday losing 107-119 to the Thunder.

Houston Rockets
The losing streak has reached 11 games in a row. It’s in line with the franchise goal of nabbing the best odds to win the top draft pick but it’s obvious Stephen Silas and his young crew are anxious to get back into the win column.
They’ve come close on a couple of occasions losing by three points to the Suns and were on the cusp in the last three games playing the Clippers twice and losing by a cumulative four points and then the overtime loss to the Jazz.
In the latter match Jalen Green led the way with 27 points while Christian Wood (24 points, 10 rebounds) and Kevin Porter Jr. (16 points, 12 assists) each registered double-doubles.
Eric Gordon (groin) is probable, Dennis Schroder (ankle), Usman Garuba (wrist) and Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) are questionable for Friday.
John Wall remains on the shelf as the Rockets failed to find a trade partner and are in a stalemate regarding a buy-out given his massive salary.
Denver Nuggets
Prior to the loss to the Thunder, the Nuggets had won six in a row and are 8-2 through the last 10 games.
An oddity of the Nuggets season is they’ve lost seven times to sub .500 teams – – the Blazers, Magic, Spurs, Hornets, Pelicans, and twice to the Thunder.
Perhaps it’s a subconscious effect in which the Nuggets simply don’t take the lower tier teams seriously but with 10 of their final 20 matches facing sub .500 opponents, they need to be cognizant of their penchant to lose the trap games.
Zeke Nnaji (hamstring) is questionable to play Friday. Vlatko Cancar (fractured foot), and Jamal Murry (ACL) are out indefinitely while Michael Porter Jr. (back surgery) is ramping up to return to play.

The question isn’t about winning though, it’s whether they can cover the 13.5 spread which is rich even against the Rockets who are desperate to end the 11-game losing streak.
Still, the Nuggets lost ground on the Mavericks dropping to 1.5 games back and that will be more than enough inspiration to get this win and do so via a decisive victory.
