Friday, November 1 finds cross Conference rivals the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets facing each other for the first time this season. Last season, the squads split their two annual contests. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Nets in 63 of their 94 matches.

On wild Wednesday in Washington, James Harden broke out of his shooting slump in a massive way scoring 59 points on 18 of 32 from the field and 6 of 14 from the perimeter against the Wizards.

The Rockets won the game by one point but the last foul call which sent Harden to the line to shoot his 17th and 18th free throws was questionable and ironically the second attempt was the only one he missed all night.
His running mate Russell Westbrook registered a triple-double of 17 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists giving him two on the season. With each passing game, the Harden-Westbrook experiment grows in chemistry.
Four other teammates joined the superstar duo in double-digit scoring including Clint Capela (21), Danuel House Jr. (16), Eric Gordon (15), and Austin Rivers (11).
Although PJ Tucker didn’t join in the scoring onslaught he did pull down a team-high 12 rebounds.
Michael Frazier III (ankle), Gerald Green (foot) and Nene (groin) will all be out for this game.
Brooklyn Nets
The initial integration in the extremely small four-game sample of Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn has produced mixed results. Irving is playing great averaging 35.2 points, 6 rebounds and 6.2 assists but his new team only has one victory to show for it.

Despite six nets scoring in double-digits versus the Grizzlies and four versus the Pacers, Brooklyn failed to capture a win in either contest.
In the loss Wednesday to the up until then winless Pacers, Irving had another huge game scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The trio who joined him with double-digit scoring was Dinwiddie (20), LeVert (15) and Harris (13).
Wilson Chandler (25-game suspension) and Kevin Durant (season-long rehab for Achilles) are out.

The Rockets also feature the top-ranked offense but rank 29th defensively. Comparatively, the Nets rank 10th offensively and 21st defensively.

The Nets are in dire need of a victory and while the offense seemingly isn’t a problem expending so much energy on that side of the hardwood may be costing the team wins.
I feel confident in stating this will be a high scoring game but that half point has me flummoxed because I could easily envision either team blowing out the other or a game decided by three points.
Still, knowing 50 or more triples will be launched against the worst 3-point defenders can’t be ignored.
