Tuesday, March 22nd the Golden State Warriors playing the Orlando Magic for the second and final time this season. Golden State won the initial meeting 126-95 on December 6th.
Both teams last played on Sunday with the Warriors losing a 108-110 nailbiter to the Spurs 98-105 while the Magic got pummelled 108-150 by the Nets.
Last season, the squads played twice with the teams splitting the series each winning on their home court. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 33 of the 67 of their 65 matches.
Golden State Warriors
With Stephen Curry sidelined for at least two weeks, the Warriors hope his foot ailment just needs rest and that they can maintain their position. Ideally, they’d like to get the second seed which is definitely in play. Memphis is a half-game up but Ja Morant has also been nursing a knee injury.
The issue is the remaining schedules. Of the 11 games left on the Warriors schedule, eight are on the road including this five-game trip that begins tonight. They’ll face four elite teams (Heat, Grizzlies, Suns, Jazz) with the latter three in succession.
They also will play FOUR back-to-back sets in this stint with two tough sets featuring the Heat and Grizzlies on the second night.
In contrast, the Grizzlies have 10 games remaining with only three on the road but face a tougher set of opponents including the Nets, Bucks, Warriors, Suns, Jazz, Nuggets, and Celtics. Memphis has two back-to-back sets with the second game featuring the Pacers and Celtics. The latter on the last game of the season.
Andre Iguodala (back) and Moses Moody (shoulder) are questionable for Tuesday versus the Magic. James Wiseman (knee) and Stephen Curry (foot) are out indefinitely.
Orlando Magic
Having amassed enough losses on the season to virtually ensure a bottom three seed and the best shot of the NBA Draft Lottery bingo balls falling in their favor, the Magic are enjoying playing spoiler.
They are playing .500 ball through their last 12 games (6-6) with impressive wins against two of the hottest teams in the NBA (Raptors, Timberwolves). During this improved performance to close the season head coach Jamahl Mosley has his youngsters playing dialed-up defense.
On the season the Magic ranks 19th defensively (111.5), but since the All-Star break, Orlando has vaulted to seventh defensively (109.8). This team is quite entertaining to watch showing glimpses of what the future holds. While the youngster’s gel and gain experience the big question is what will happen once Jonathan Isaac returns next season.
Another big question to answer is what the Magic would do with yet another top draft pick. If the fit is right presumably they’d be delighted but Orlando has so much youth on this roster it won’t be surprising if they package a few of their assets to add another top talent with more experience to pair with Isaac and the best of the core they have in place.
Jalen Suggs (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday versus the Warriors. Jonathan Isaac (knee), and Bol Bol (foot) are out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:

- The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Golden State’s last 6 games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Orlando’s last 12 games.
- Over is 5-1-1 in the Warriors’ last 7 road games.
- Under is 5-2 in Orlando’s last 7 games as an underdog.
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
Draymond Green let the whistle get the better of him resulting in his ejection in the last game that they lost by two points. As the leader of the team, he can’t afford to do that, especially with Steph out and while they are fighting for seeding.
Orlando got blown out 108-150 by the Nets but they also pushed the Suns (99-102) and 76ers to overtime so this isn’t a gimme game. I like the Dubs to win but the Magic to keep it closer than the 8.5 spread.
