Thursday, November 3rd the Golden State Warriors playing the Orlando Magic for the first of two contests this season. The Warriors will host the second meeting on January 7th.
The Warriors are on a five-game road trip with Orlando and New Orleans being their last two stops. They’ve lost the initial three matches to the Hornets in overtime (113-120), the Pistons (114-128) and Heat (109-116).
Orlando last played Tuesday in a 108-116 loss to the Thunder.
Last season, the squads played twice splitting the series each winning on their home court. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 34 of the 66 matches.
Golden State Warriors
The schedule isn’t doing the Dubs any favors. They faced Detroit on the second night of a back-to-back set following overtime the night prior in Charlotte and the Heat contest was their third game in four nights.
At season start the belief was the defending champions would work on getting their youngsters extra playing time and experience in order to allow their veteran core rest time and arrive healthy to the postseason.
Yet, through the early season it’s the starters who aren’t keeping pace as they rank in the middle of the pack for scoring 117.5 points per 100 possessions (16th) while the bench ranks a favorable eighth.
In terms of efficiency the Dubs are shooting 46.5% from the field (14th) and 34.6% from the perimeter (19th). Comparing to last year they ranked 10th and eighth in those same categories so well behind their typical standard.
Defensively, the Warriors allow 121.3 points per 100 possessions ranking 28th and opponents are shooting 46.7 percent from the field (19th) and 34.6 percent from the perimeter (15th).
Andre Iguodala (hip) was downgraded to out Thursday while Donte DiVincenzo (hamstring) is out indefinitely.
Orlando Magic
Despite their single victory the Magic are performing well defensively. They allow 111 points per 100 possessions ranking 13th but force opponents into low shooting percentages — 44.8 percent from the field (7th) and 33.8 percent from the perimeter (11th).
The issue for Orlando lies on the offensive end of the floor as the team struggles to score producing 105.9 points per 100 possessions which ranks 28th. They are tied with the Bucks in 23rd shooting 45.4 percent from the field.
The perimeter continues to be a major road block as they shoot an anemic 31 percent from deep ranking ahead of only the Lakers and Thunder.
Terrence Ross exited the last game with a knee injury and is questionable while Mo Wagner (ankle), Cole Anthony (oblique) and Markelle Fultz (toe) were downgraded to out Thursday.
Jonathan Isaac (knee) and Gary Harris (knee) are out indefinitely.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
Neither team excels at scoring on the fast break with the Magic ranking 29th and the Warriors 26th. While the Magic offensive limitations aren’t new the Dubs struggles offensively are.
With so much championship DNA on this club it’s not likely the Warriors will overact this early in the season.
That said, they’ll be invested in getting back on track with a decisive victory prior to heading to New Orleans to finish the road trip strong.
