Wednesday, March 23rd, finds the Golden State Warriors facing the Miami Heat for the second and final time this season. Golden State won the initial meeting 115-108 on January 3rd.
Golden State is playing a back-to-back set having played and lost 90-94 to the Magic on Tuesday while the Heat played Monday losing 106-113 to a shorthanded 76ers squad.
Last season the clubs played twice splitting the season series each winning on their home court. The Warriors hold the all-time record with 34 wins in 66 matches versus the Heat.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are learning what life is like without their star Stephen Curry in the lineup and it’s not been a great experience so far as they dropped their third game in a row.
That the loss was to the Orlando Magic is cause for concern as the Warriors had given away the prior match to the Spurs – – so two teams both low on the seeding board.
Draymond Green who recently returned to the lineup after missing 31 games due to a back injury wasn’t happy with the team’s compete level and held nothing back in the post-game media sessions calling his team soft and that they played stupid.
“I think we’re playing soft, I think we’re playing stupid. We’re just not playing good basketball. We’re getting punked, and we’re losing a lot of fourth quarters.” – Green
Head coach Steve Kerr said not having Curry creates a domino effect that he and his staff are trying to figure out in terms of lineups and rotations.
Jordan Poole led the way with 26 points and six assists. Klay Thompson shot 6-15 for 15 points while Andrew Wiggins who was questionable played offering 13 points and eight rebounds.
Otto Porter Jr. had arguably the best game producing a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga chipped in 14 points as the other double-figure contributor
Thompson who hasn’t typically played in both games of back-to-back sets isn’t on the injury report either so perhaps he’s progressed to playing in both.
Andre Iguodala (back) is questionable. James Wiseman (knee) and Stephen Curry (foot) are out indefinitely.
Miami Heat
Since February 3rd the Heat have lost just a handful of times including the match on Monday in Philly. That they had the majority of their players available including their core and still lost was surprising.
But that sometimes happens when a team drops their guard knowing their opponent is hampered or not on the same level depth-wise. Whatever the reasons were Miami lost and will need to regroup in this match.
Against the shorthanded 76ers, Jimmy Butler led the way with 27 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Kyle Lowry took on more of a scoring role in this game (his hometown) putting up 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Bam Adebayo registered 22 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks while Caleb Martin (14) and Tyler Herro (10) were the other double-digit scores. Herro had a rough shooting night going 5 of 15 from the field.
Butler (ankle), Herro (knee), Martin (knee), and Victor Oladipo (back) are all questionable while Gabe Vincent (toe) was downgraded to out Wednesday versus the Warriors.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
.The Orlando – Miami combo ranks fairly high on the tough back-to-back sets. While it’s not the high altitude of playing a Utah-Denver set the Florida combo is nonetheless tough just from the perspective of the nightlife draw.
With Miami likely angry about the loss in Philly expect a more dialed-in Heat group. They’ll be getting an equally charged-up Warriors crew that aren’t happy about their three-game losing streak.
While I believe the Heat will win, I also suspect Draymond Green will set the tone early in this match and it’ll be a close game.
