Tuesday, November 19 finds the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies facing each other for the first time this season.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Warriors winning three of four contests. The Warriors hold the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 47 of their 89 matches.
Golden State Warriors
Several youngsters have an opportunity to showcase their talents with hopes of retaining a spot on the roster when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson return to the lineup next season. Of those, rookie Eric Paschall is leading the pack with two performances of 30 points.
To that end, Paschall led the team in New Orleans with his 30 points adding two assists and seven rebounds. Ky Bowman (19), Glenn Robinson III (14) and Marquese Chriss (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Once again the Warriors enter the match with a host of injuries. Of the eight players, a trio should be back by month-end. D’Angelo Russell has a sprained right thumb and is expected to miss two weeks.
Jacob Evans has a strained left adductor strain which has kept him out the entirety of the season. And, Kevon Looney who appeared in the opening game of the season prior to being sidelined by a condition called neuropathy.
Damion Lee (fourth metacarpal fracture) is expected back in early December. Stephen Curry underwent surgery to repair a fracture of his second metacarpal on his left hand and will miss three months recovering.
In addition, Alen Smailagic is out indefinitely with a sprained right ankle and Klay Thompson will miss the season recovering from his torn ACL.
Although the Memphis Grizzlies are destined for the lottery they aren’t just throwing in the towel and played with pride last week. That led to three consecutive victories over the San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets, and Utah Jazz.
On Sunday that win streak came to a halt as another young squad the Denver Nuggets outplayed them posting 44 points in the second quarter and 36 in the third quarter to build an uncatchable lead as the Nuggets went on to win 131-114.
While rookie Ja Morant is impressing everyone with his skills and winning games at the buzzer there is concern regarding how slowly Jaren Jackson Jr. began the season.
He’s been nursing a sore knee which kept him out of two games early in the season. Versus the Nuggets he excelled, however, registering 22 points to lead his team in scoring and added five rebounds.
Jonas Valanciunas delivered a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Clarke (19), Morant (13) and De’Anthony Melton were the other double-figure contributors in the loss.
Grayson Allen is suffering from soreness in his left ankle and won’t play with no definitive return date. Andre Iguodala remains away from the team with the mutual agreement the team will seek trade partners for him.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Warriors are 7-3 in the last 10 head to head contests.
- The Warriors are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games.
- Over Under is 5-4-1 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Prediction:
The Warriors have lost seven in a row and while both teams are lottery-bound the recent confidence the Grizzlies gained via a mini three-game win streak should bolster the youngsters at home.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Grizzlies ATS
That said, 6.5 points is a large spread but I’m hedging to the Grizzlies taking advantage of the injury-depleted Warriors.
