We made it, everybody. This series has largely played out as basketball fans across America hoped it would, ending in a series-deciding Game 7.
Unfortunately, the big question mark here comes down to whether or not Chris Paul will be playing. Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni hasn’t give an official call on his point guard’s status, but he has been quoted saying he’s somewhere between doubtful and day-to-day as of this writing at 7 p.m. ET the night before the contest.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State has seen its highs and lows this series, but they’ve been able to bounce back as necessary. See everything after Game 6, Quarter 1 as the perfect example.
In Game 7, Golden State can’t worry about whether or not Chris Paul is in the Rockets’ lineup. Yes, the superstar guard’s presence makes a big difference and must be accounted for. However, the Warriors would be smart to stick to their game plan.
If the Warriors can get Stephen Curry going early, it will take all the mastery out of this game. You have to assume Kevin Durant will get his and Draymond Green will fill his role defending Clint Cappella in the block and James Harden on pick-and-rolls, but with Curry having been both brilliant and inconsistent during this series, his early-performance will be the X-factor.
The Warriors have the luxury of saying that Paul’s presence or absence doesn’t make a difference.
Houston doesn’t have that luxury.
As much as we’d like to say that what we saw in the first quarter of Game 5 is what we can expect out of the gate again, that’s just not the case. They caught the Warriors off guard—and then they blew it.
If Paul is in the lineup, you can almost surely expect a lower-scoring first quarter, via more late-clock isolations. But you can also expect better defense throughout the game and a more reliable scoring option late.
Without him, the Rockets will have to bank on another huge start—this time not giving up an epic comeback.
Both of those things are a lot to ask of a team that it looking to eliminate a Warriors team from the postseason that has represented the Western Conference in the Finals the past three years.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
If Chris Paul plays, this game should come down to the wire. If he doesn’t, expect a big Warriors victory.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Golden State ATS
The catch here, if you’re a Rockets fan, is that we’re still picking the Warriors should this game be decided late.
Watch the line as Paul’s status becomes more clear, but don’t hesitate to pick the Warriors straight up despite not having home-court advantage.
