Monday, January 31st finds the Golden State Warriors facing the Houston Rockets in their third and final meeting of the season. Golden State won the two prior matches on November 7th (120-107) and January 21st (105-103).
The Warriors last played on Saturday defeating the Nets 110-106 while the Rockets have been off since Friday following a 110-125 loss to the Blazers.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Warriors sweeping the regular-season series. The Rockets hold the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 126 of their 225 matches.
Golden State Warriors
Many NBA fans jumped on the inclusion of Andrew Wiggins as a starter to the All-Star Game. Whether it was all thanks to K Pop star BamBam or the fact fans wanted two Warriors in the starting unit the Canadian has offered up his own reasons for the inclusion.
In the two games since the announcement, Wiggins has averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks and shooting a lethal 56.3 percent from the perimeter on 8.0 attempts.
While Steph Curry continues to struggle with his shot, his Splash Brother is looking better with each outing. Klay Thompson has now played in nine contests averaging 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists while shooting 35.4 percent on 7.2 attempts from the perimeter.
Although it’s clearly an extremely small sample to dissect in the last three contests his improvement is obvious as he’s averaged 18.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and his 3-point shooting has taken an uptick to 45.5% on 7.3 attempts.
As for Curry, since achieving the 3-point record in New York his last 19 games punctuate the struggle is real as he’s connected on 73 of his 217 perimeter attempts or 33.6 percent.
Nemanja Bjelica (back) is questionable while Andre Iguodala (hip) is out Monday. Draymond Green (calf) and James Wiseman (knee) remain out indefinitely.
Houston Rockets
Home wins have been hard to come by for Houston who is 7-15 at the Toyota Center and hasn’t won there since December 8th amassing 10 consecutive losses.
In the loss to the Blazers, six Rockets scored in double-figures with Christian Wood leading the way posting a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds plus three assists, plus two blocks.
Garrison Matthews also scored 21 points while Kenyon Martin Jr. led the reserves with 17 points. Jalen Green (17), Jae’Sean Tate (12), and Josh Christopher (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
The biggest issues for the Rockets were a poor start and turning the ball over 19 times leading to 23 Blazers points.
Kevin Porter Jr. (quarantine) and Usman Garuba (wrist) are questionable for Monday. The Rockets and John Wall agreed mutually for him to sit while the team develops their youth and the franchise hunts for a potential trade partner for him.

Free Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
At times this season the Warriors have allowed some of the lower tier teams to get a rhythm and stay in games needing clutch time to defeat these Rockets as well as the Pacers, Thunder, and Pistons.
In some cases, they weren’t able to convert the victory losing to the Spurs, Pelicans, and Pacers.
Assuming the Dubs learned from the close call versus Houston on January 21st this should be an easy victory and sure 10.5 points is a big spread but Golden State is due for a blowout victory.
