With the Cavaliers regressing back to the mean after the trade, the big question is whether this squad is significantly better with Harden.
He provides a similar output in dishing assists as Darius Garland did and isn’t much of an upgrade defensively.
At first glance Detroit doesn’t appear to have depth but a closer look reveals how this group truly functions as a team. The one area they are lacking in is perimeter scoring but the defense typically makes up for that shortcoming.
This meeting will serve as a litmus test for the Cavs, who made the move to grab Harden in an effort to challenge for the Conference. They won’t catch Detroit (or possibly anyone in front of them) in the stretch run, but they need to know they can beat the Pistons when it counts.
That said, I still like the Pistons to take the match and cover the spread.
