Thursday, October 31 finds Western Conference rivals the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans facing each other in their first meeting of the 2019-20 season.
Last season, the squads played four times splitting the series. The Nuggets hold the all-time record having bested the Pelicans in 33 of their 58 matches.

After the first week of action, the Nuggets remained one of the four unbeaten clubs but the upstart Dallas Mavericks came into the Pepsi Center and did what only seven clubs were able to accomplish last season by defeating them on their home court.

Despite all Denver starters registering double-digit scoring and Nikola Jokic collecting a triple-double (10 points/10 assists/10 rebounds), the Nuggets bench couldn’t stay with the Mavericks. Jokic has put up two triple-doubles and a double-double in four games.
Paul Millsap led the way with 23 points, Will Barton chipped in 19 points, while Jamal Murray and Gary Harris each added 16 points.

New Orleans Pelicans
Entering the season hopes were high for the Pelicans. They landed the top draft pick – Zion Williamson but he has yet to play after a preseason knee injury forced surgery that will keep him out for up to six weeks.

Aside from Williamson, the Pelicans feature other impressive rookies like Jaxson Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker obtained via a savvy draft trade David Griffin pulled via trading the Lakers pick to the Hawks.
Jrue Holiday is an All-Defense Team member and the addition of Derrick Favors and JJ Redick plus the Lakers trio helped comprise a well-rounded team.
While the Pelicans haven’t won they looked competitive forcing Toronto to overtime and losing by a mere three points in Houston. Brandon Ingram has been a revelation and it’s likely Griffin is questioning not getting his extension signed prior to season start.
Yet the Pelicans remain winless and it looks like they won’t have Holiday or Favors (both dealing with knee soreness) for this match.
