Sunday, April 3rd finds the Denver Nuggets facing the Los Angeles Lakers for the second of three scheduled meetings this season. Denver won the initial meeting 133-96 on January 15th and will be hosting the final meeting between the clubs on April 10th.
Both teams last played on Friday with the Nuggets losing 130-136 to the Wolves while the Lakers battled the Pelicans losing 111-114.
The Lakers hold the all-time record having bested the Nuggets in 110 of their 183 meetings. Last season the squads played three times with LA winning two of the three contests.
Denver Nuggets
As the Nuggets close out the season they’ve experienced some up and down periods. It’s sort of been their MO this season – string together a few wins, then suffer a stint of two or three losses.

This is the final road game for the Nuggets who’ll complete the season on a three-game homestand facing the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Lakers. They’re also trying to position themselves higher up the ladder and enter this match seeded sixth.
Denver and Utah have identical records but because the Jazz own the tiebreak the Nuggets are seeded below them. That might be where they want to be positioned given the uncertain status of Stephen Curry.
JaMychal Green (wrist) was upgraded to probable while Zeke Nnaji (hamstring) was downgraded to out Sunday. Vlatko Cancar (fractured foot), Jamal Murry (ACL), and Michael Porter Jr. (back surgery) are out indefinitely.
Los Angeles Lakers
In preseason most analysts and pundits picked the Lakers and Nets as the teams they expected to be playing this spring for the NBA title.
But with teams having a handful of games remaining that option is quickly losing even a mathematical possibility as the Nets sit 10th and the Lakers 11th in their respective conferences.
Anthony Davis returned to the hardwood on Friday and registered a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds plus six assists versus the Pelicans. LeBron James also returned despite nursing a sore ankle producing 38 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Malik Monk (13), Russell Westbrook (12), and Avery Bradley (10) were the other double-figure scorers.
Carmelo Anthony (illness) was upgraded to probable while LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (foot) are questionable for Sunday. Kendrick Nunn (knee) is out indefinitely.
