Sunday, October 30th finds the Denver Nuggets facing the Los Angeles Lakers for the second of four meetings between the clubs this season. LA will host again on December 16th while the Nuggets will host on January 9th.
Denver won the initial meeting 110-99 earlier this week (October 26th). The teams both played again on Friday with the Lakers falling to the Timberwolves 102-111 while the Nuggets routed the Jazz 117-101.
LA is the last team without a win this season as the Magic and Kings finally broke into the win column this week while the Bucks remain the only unbeaten squad.
The Lakers hold the all-time record having bested the Nuggets in 111 of their 186 meetings. Last season the squads played three times with the Nuggets winning two of the three contests.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets are looking like a bonafide title contender although they still have a tendency to not play consistently.
That’s understandable to a certain extent as head coach Michael Malone wants to bring back Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. slowly given their injury history.

They’ve looked sharp in their victories and the offense per usual is flowing with Nikola Jokic at the helm. Denver ranks 13th offensively which should see a sharp incline given that opening match against the Jazz where they scored only 102 points.
Since then they’ve averaged 117.4 points per game. However, the greater concern for Coach Malone is the opposite side of the hardwood where the Nuggets rank 22nd.
Equally frustrating is their 23rd rank on offensive rebounding percent which is something they should be able to improve upon given their length and personnel.
Devon Reed (personal) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are questionable for Sunday. Collin Gillespie (leg) is out indefinitely.
Los Angeles Lakers
Five games into the season and the Lakers media is blowing up about the necessity for trades to improve the Lake Show.
While their fan base loves to believe this squad is a perennial title contender anyone with an ounce of basketball acumen knew this squad was closer to a tanking team than a contender.
The problem is you don’t have a superstar like LeBron James on your team and concede — you go out and get the pieces to at least make them relevant.
Of course the issue is there isn’t much to dangle in terms of assets. Sure, there are the two draft picks but even if the Lakers were able to cajole Chad Buchanan to trade Myles Turner and Buddy Hield for Russell Westbrook and those picks they still wouldn’t be contenders.
And, if you’re Buchanan why would you do that deal knowing the players would garner bigger packages if separated plus the Lakers will always be seeking to upgrade their roster so those picks might not be that valuable in the future anyway.
Anthony Davis (back) and Juan Toscano-Anderson (ankle) are questionable for Sunday. Cole Swider (foot) is out until late November while Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroder are out indefinitely following thumb surgeries.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers NBA Prediction:
The Lakers will undoubtedly be desperate to capture a victory. It won’t appease the dumpster fire of articles about their ineptness but it’ll at least remove them from being the only winless team and the embarrassment of that fact.
It’s not out of the spectrum of thought that the refs could help this situation out by offering up a biased whistle but to be frank this Lakers squad is BAD and on top of that Davis isn’t guaranteed to play.
The crazy part of this equation is the Lakers rank second defensively which is a credit to new head coach Darvin Ham. BUT – they rank 30th on offense averaging 102.2 points per game.
They weren’t able to crack that benchmark earlier this week in Denver and if AD is out it’s doubtful they do in this contest.
