Wednesday, April 27th, the sixth-place Denver Nuggets, and the third-place Golden State Warriors play Game 5 of the series. A victory by the Warriors would book them a ticket to the Western Conference semi finals versus the winner of the Memphis – Minnesota series.
Denver won the 2021-22 season series 3-1 with victories on December 28th (89-86, February 16th (117-116), and March 7th (131-124) while Golden State won on March 10th (113-102).
The Nuggets have won 100 of the 185 matches played versus the Warriors all-time however in the postseason the Warriors took the only meeting between the clubs 4-2 in the 2013 first-round series.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets fought back in Game 4 refusing to bail in spite of not having a victory to their credit trailing 0-3 in the series. However, if there is a modern team who exemplify coming from behind to win it’s the Nuggets.
They won consecutive series after trailing 1-3 in the Orlando bubble and now will attempt to become the first team to ever win after trailing 0-3. Much like the Raptors in the East, the Nuggets felt like they should’ve been tied in the series after dropping a game that was seemingly in hand.
With that thought in mind, they made it a point to match the physical intensity of the Warriors throughout the game.
Per typical, Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver with 37 points, eight rebounds, and six assists but uncharacteristically had seven turnovers. Monte Morris put on a show for the Denver fans scoring 24 points with five dimes but was particularly hot from deep hitting all five of his 3-pointers in the third quarter.
Aaron Gordon stepped up with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks but his defensive presence on Jordan Poole was key to the victory. Bones Hyland (15) and DeMarcus Cousins (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Jamal Murray (ACL) and Michael Porter Jr (back) are out indefinitely.
Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry entered as a reserve once again but that situation will likely change for this game due to Jordan Poole finally cooling off. Curry led the team in scoring with 33 points adding three rebounds, eight assists, four steals, and a block.
Draymond Green posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds plus six assists while Klay Thompson had an efficient 32-point evening (12 of 20) but struggled with foul trouble.
Jordan Poole had been on fire through the initial three games shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 59.1 percent from the perimeter but came back to earth scoring 11 points on 3 of 10 from the field and hitting just a single 3-pointer.
James Wiseman (knee) is done for the season.

Free Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Prediction:
Close-out games are tricky as both teams have varying degrees of desperation and the mental aspect is much more prevalent. Denver has proven in the past they’ll fight but if the Warriors get out to an early lead it might make it easier for Denver to raise the white flag.
Let’s not forget those Disney efforts had Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. healthy so it could be a different mindset for this Nuggets team.
The Warriors trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green have experience winning, and with Poole cooling off, Steve Kerr will likely go back to his preferred starting five so they can establish an early lead and ride that to a victory closing out this series.
