Both teams last played Wednesday with the Nuggets hanging on to defeat the Pacers 122-119 while the Celtics routed the Pistons 122-112.

All five starters and Bones Hyland scored in double-figures in the match against the Pacers that turned into a shoot-out.
While Nikola Jokic (24) and Jamal Murray (18) led the scoring it was Aaron Gordon’s double-double that stood out as he scored 18 and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Ish Smith (calf) is questionable for Friday. Collin Gillespie (leg surgery) is out indefinitely.
Boston Celtics
Jayson Tatum (31) and Jaylen Brown (30) led the way again for the Celtics combining for 61 points versus the Pistons while Sam Hauser continued to be a revelation for the Bean Town reserve unit delivering 24 points in the win.
Boston scores 118.7 points per game which is the second most overall. They shoot 48.3% from the field landing them in a three-way tie for second with the Pelicans and Cavaliers. On the perimeter, they average a robust 38.8% which is the fourth-best mark in the league.
On defense, they allow 114.2 points per game ranking 17th while opponents are shooting 46.5 percent from the field (15th) and 35.1 percent from the perimeter (14th).
Malcolm Brogdon has fit into the Celtics rotation seamlessly offering another ball handler and high IQ player who honestly fits the team schemes better in clutch time because he’s more reliable than Derrick White.
The issue is his health because he’s had trouble staying on the court. Aside from his rookie year, he’s missed significant time every season other than his rookie year. So far he’s battled through some minor bumps and bruises this season but had to leave the match Wednesday with a hamstring problem making him questionable Friday.
Robert Williams III (knee) is out indefinitely. Danilo Gallinari (ACL) is lost for the season.

This could be a preamble of the NBA Finals if all falls in place for these squads. They both have superstar talents, depth, and while maybe not displaying it fully yet are capable of bringing it on both ends of the floor.
They also enter this match with very similar performances through the early season relying on their offense and only occasionally bringing the defense.
In a perfect world, Robert Williams is healthy and playing so we’d get a look at how he handles Jokic but that’ll have to wait for the meeting in January. And his absence leads the list of reasons why the 5-point spread definitely feels too generous.
Denver is just far too lethal and Boston has no one who can stop Jokic so I’m taking the points and Denver (in fact I like them to win).
