2019-2020 NBA Previews – Nuggets Odds
Looking for 2019 Denver Nuggets Predictions? After consecutive seasons of getting knocked out of the playoffs on the final day of the season, the Nuggets were laser-focused on reaching the 2019 postseason. Not only did they accomplish their preseason goal, but they claimed the second seed in the West.
Once there, Denver made the most of their postseason experience beating the Spurs in seven games and also pushed the Blazers to seven games before succumbing. Entering the 2019-20 season the goal is to build upon their experience and continue to ascend.

Denver Nuggets Strengths:
Depth:
Run down the Nuggets roster and you’ll quickly discover the club is two deep at every position with quality personnel. Every team has starters and backups to plug in but no opponent has the quality of talent at each position the Nuggets do. On top of all their 2019-20 assets, the addition of Jerami Grant offers Malone another two-way talent who can stroke the 3-ball with 39.2 percent efficiency.
That one addition will open up so many possibilities for coach Malone who could utilize Grant with Jokic putting two capable 3-point shooters on the floor. Conversely, if a team elects to run a small ball lineup to take advantage of Jokic defensively Malone could counter with Grant at the five.
In addition, Michael Porter Jr. is available this season giving the Nuggets even more options on the wing.

Constancy:
While many teams will be grappling with chemistry Denver returns with predominantly the same roster. This means the majority of the team already know the system which will pay massive dividends particularly in the early part of the season as teams who made wholesale changes adjust.
Rising Stars:
Nikola Jokic has ascended into most pundits top 10 lists. However, the growth of Jamal Murray both during the regular season and in the playoffs showcased the Canadian isn’t afraid of the moment. Murray enters his third season looking to take yet another step up that ladder and that could find him joining the Joker at the All-Star Game in February.
Denver Nuggets Weaknesses:
Too much depth – not enough minutes:
This is the typical double-edged sword situation for Mike Malone. Last season, the club benefited from their depth during an injury-riddled campaign. However, this season Malone will have a slippery slope to navigate keeping all those talented players happy with playing time and the number of touches each receives.

If the team buys into the strength in numbers strategy it’s a benefit, but one needs only look at what happened in Boston last season to see how things can go south quickly.
Lacking veterans:
A club teeming with so much youthful talent bodes well for the future but it could also be the one deterrent which keeps them from winning right now. Most clubs who win the title feature a good mix of youth and vets. Paul Millsap is the only Nuggets who can be cited as a true vet. Aside from Millsap only Will Barton (7), Mason Plumlee (6), Jerami Grant (5) and Gary Harris (5) have five years in the league.
Denver Nuggets Betting Prediction: 58-24
Presumably, the oddsmakers figure parity and prowess in the West will result in the Nuggets taking a slight step back given the over/under prediction of 53.0.
Top tier free agents (and trades) bolstered the Lakers, Clippers, Rockets, and Jazz raising their projections but in spite of the changes, none of those clubs parallels the Nuggets overall depth.
Denver made very few offseason moves but the choices they did make were extremely savvy. Whether it was the choice to retain personnel for constancy or adding value to plug in defensive depth. Although most pundits are focused on the Lakers or Clippers winning the West, don’t sleep on the Nuggets who could be the dark horse to win the conference.
