The conference semi-finals between the fifth-seeded Dallas Mavericks and West’s top-seeded OKC Thunder continues on Thursday. OKC took the early series lead with a dominant 117-95 victory in Game 1.

The main difference between SGA’s squad and Luka’s is their depth which was on full display as eight different Thunder players scored from the perimeter.

In the Game 1 preview, I highlighted how important the perimeter would be in this series and the Thunder delivered as I expected both in scoring and defending behind the arc.
The surprise was the boards where OKC won 52 to 39 including 16 to 11 on the offensive glass.
For the Mavericks to get the split they’ll need Kyrie Irving to be more aggressive in the first half and utilize their size on the boards. They face an uphill battle though as Chet Holmgren is a solid paint defender and the Thunder’s depth allows Mark Daigneault to keep the energy and pace high throughout the match.
OKC has won 10 games in a row dating back to the regular season and hasn’t lost at home since March 27th. I’m a stickler for not going against the current streak so take the Thunder to retain home court by winning and covering the spread in Game 2.
