Charlotte Hornets
While the Hornets have struggled of late they got a huge win on Wednesday versus the Hawks to pull back ahead of them in the standings. It wasn’t a game featuring a ton of defensive intensity but the Hornets double-teamed Trae Young which worked to their advantage as the sniper was limited to nine points.
LaMelo Ball delivered a double-double of 22 points and 11 assists plus eight rebounds to lead the way for Charlotte as all five starters scored in double figures plus Montrezl Harrell who scored 20 in his reserve role.
P.J. Washington was key to the win taking over to score 13 points (16 total) in the fourth quarter. Mason Plumlee who has adopted using his left hand to make free throws hit two of his three attempts on route to a double-double performance of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier each scored 18 as the other double-figure scorers.
Gordon Hayward (ankle) is out indefinitely.
