Sunday, March 13th, 2022, the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics meet for the second and final time this season. Dallas won the initial match on November 6th 107-104.
Both teams last played on Friday with the Mavericks defeating the Rockets 113-100 while the Celtics beat the Pistons 114-103.
Last season, the squads played twice with the Mavericks sweeping the regular-season series. The Celtics hold the all-time record having bested the Mavericks in 42 of their 81 matches.
Dallas Mavericks
The 30-point loss to the Knicks on Wednesday was embarrassing but every team will suffer a few games each season of that nature that simply fall into the category of forget-about-it.
That’s of course as long as it’s not a situation that carries over into the next match or becomes a habit. Dallas made sure of that by taking care of business versus the Rockets in their next match.

In the victory versus the Rockets, Luka Doncic led the way via a double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds plus six assists, and two blocks. Dwight Powell also registered a double-double featuring 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Spencer Dinwiddie offered 16 points and seven assists while Trey Burke pitched in 15 and Josh Green added 10.
Frank Ntilikina (illness) was upgraded to probable, Dorian Finney-Smith (arm), and Jalen Brunson (thigh) are questionable while Marquese Chriss (knee) was downgraded to out for Sunday versus the Celtics. Theo Pinson (finger) and Tim Hardaway Jr.(foot) are out indefinitely.
Boston Celtics
It’s hard to argue the hottest team in the NBA isn’t the Boston Celtics who’ve lost twice since January 29th (16-2) and even the losses can easily be explained.
The loss to Detroit was probably a matter of taking a lottery team for granted (and they still almost won 111- 112) whereas the match versus the Pacers was on the second night of a back-to-back set.
Boston is currently on a winning streak of five (the longest current active streak) they extended via the victory on Friday versus Detroit. The latter has been playing much better of late and no game versus them is a guaranteed win as they revel in playing spoiler.
The two J’s are the main focus in Boston but their young big man has been key to the defensive improvement. All three made a mark in the victory Friday.
Jayson Tatum led the way with 31 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and a steal. Jaylen Brown was also effective with 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Robert Williams III offered 12 points and nine rebounds.
Marcus Smart had one of his better matches this season with 20 points, five assists, five steals, and three rebounds.
Aaron Nesmith (ankle) is out indefinitely.
