The Cavaliers have certainly surprised a lot of people this season. It is a positive sign for them that they are once again relevant in the NBA landscape after being a lowly team for a good chunk of time.
They are losers of three of their past four games and will look to get back on track when they take on one of the worst teams in the league in Orlando.
Even though they have been impressive throughout the course of the regular season, so have a lot of other teams in the Eastern Conference, which is why it is going to be very tricky for them come postseason time.
Listen, the Cavs do have talent on their roster, but they are not as stacked or deep as Boston, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, etc., which I do feel could catch up to them if they were to face off with some of those clubs during the playoffs. Not that it couldn’t happen in the future, but them running the table in the East this season is not something I would count on.
Cleveland is coming off of a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday by a score of 112-108. They hung tough with one of the best teams in the conference, but when it mattered most, they came up just a bit short.
As is the case with a lot of teams around the league, Cleveland had no answers at all for Joel Embiid last time out, who went for 44 points and 17 boards. I think it is fair to say, no matter how confident this group is, they do not want any part of a series that involves Philly in the postseason.
Orlando Magic
I have done quite a few games on the Magic this season and each time the theme has been dark and negative. Really, what other way could it be for this team right about now?
At the moment, this crew has a record of 20-59, which puts them dead last in the Eastern Conference. Even the Pistons are ahead of them in the standings, which must make them feel even worse than they already do.
Unless they all of a sudden get better overnight and other teams get considerably worse, I have a feeling that them playing poorly is something you will see for many years to come. To put it simply, the future does not look bright for this franchise.
Orlando got smoked by the New York Knicks on Sunday by a score of 118-88. At this point, nothing should surprise folks with the kind of performances they put up on a nightly basis.
Losing to a Knicks team, which is also a below-average team, has to be the peak of embarrassment for an NBA team. The only real player they had on the court was RJ Barrett and they still managed to get smoked. Wow!

It is going to be harder for Orlando to play any worse than they did last time out, so I am curious to see the kind of performance they put forth on Tuesday evening.
