Last season, the squads played three times with the Cavaliers sweeping the series. The Knicks hold the all-time record having bested the Cavaliers in 111 of their 209 matches.

The win over the Wizards in Washington was the first road victory for the Cavaliers this season. They arrive in New York with a history of winning at Madison Square Garden dating back to 2014 and a total of 10 wins in a row at the Mecca.

While the Cavaliers are destined for the lottery their vets are showcasing their wares in hopes of being moved to a contender. Particularly, their two big men Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson.

In terms of injuries, John Henson (strained right hamstring), Ante Zizic (foot) and Dylan Windler (shin) are all out until the end of the month.
New York Knicks
The team from the Mecca has just two victories to their credit including the recent win on the road to the Dallas Mavericks which was made more compelling given it was the first time they played Kristaps Porzingis since the big trade.

Frank Ntilikina made a case to be the starter with his breakthrough performance in Dallas. Ntilikina scored 14 points hitting four 3-point shots along with four assists, six rebounds, four steals, and three blocks.
Five Knicks produced double-digit efforts including Marcus Morris who led the team with 29 points. The other Knicks who hit the mark were Julius Randle (21), Bobby Portis (14), and Taj Gibson (12).
Gibson hit critical free throws at the game end to ensure the Knicks won the match as the Mavericks made a late game push.
Dennis Smith Jr. rejoined the club after missing six games mourning a death in the family. Elfrid Payton has missed five games due to a strained hamstring. Both are questionable for this match.
Mitchell Robinson (concussion) remains out of the lineup in the concussion protocol program.
