Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Chicago Bulls much of a fighting chance on Monday, setting them as 13 point underdogs when they visit the Thunder in Oklahoma City. Normally OKC would be in danger of getting complacent in such a mismatch but you can bet they’ll be tuned in after being upset 112-114 by Chicago last Friday.
The Bulls are coming off an almost inexplicable 98-93 win in San Antonio on Saturday. OKC beat 110-104 at home on Saturday. The Thunder will benefit from being at Chesapeake Energy Arena tonight where they are 11-3 on the year. OKC had lost three straight road contests prior.
Chicago Bulls
It takes some guts to wager on the Bulls despite the fact that they’re getting double digit points in this contest. This is a very up-and-down team (mostly down) that has shown the ability to beat both the Thunder and the Spurs in the last 10 days. Also during that span they’ve been defeated by nearly 60 by the Celtics and were outscored by 30 points in the 2nd half vs. the Kings.

The Bulls are going to be a bit shorthanded Monday as leading scorer Zach Lavine will miss his second straight game with an ankle injury. Lavine had 25 to fuel Chicago’s win over Oklahoma City 10 days ago. The Bulls do have Kris Dunn worked back from injury at the perfect time as he had 24 to lead the team over the Spurs.
Chicago F Lauri Markkanen hit the game-winner against the Thunder in the first meeting and was solid again with 23 points. Jabari Parker has been taken out of the rotation as Chicago tries to trade him which is a minor offensive blow to the team. This is an offense that hasn’t broken 100 points in four games so look for a low scoring affair tonight.

Another reason Monday’s O/U could fall below the 212.5 is because Chicago’s defense hasn’t played that bad lately. They’ve held 3 of 6 opponents to 100 points or less and actually rank 19th in scoring defense which isn’t bad for such a horrible team. 7 of 9 Chicago games have fell ‘under’ the total.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder had been the top team in the Western Conference until a 2-3 stretch has pushed them to 1.5 GB from the Nuggets. OKC is a mediocre 6-4 their last 10 but they should have no problem dispensing the Bulls tonight as Chicago is just 3-11 on the road. Does Oklahoma City get a blowout win is what bettors are wondering?
It’s hard to pinpoint why the Thunder haven’t been scoring wins in all of these past games. Russell Westbrook has flirted with a triple-double in each of the past 6 games and Paul George has 30+ in 3 of the last 4 contests. Dennis Schroder even had a couple 20+ point games off the bench last week.

For all the offensive firepower that OKC boasts in their lineup, their defense is actually 5th this season in opponents scoring. Their D has allowed 110+ points in 4 of the last 6. Expect a bounce back game from the Oklahoma City defense compared to the loss to Chicago last Friday. In that game, the Bulls shot 45.7% from the field and outrebounded the Thunder by a dozen.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Bulls are 10-22 ATS their last 32 road games
- Bulls are 1-6 ATS their last 7 after a SU win
- Thunder are 1-5 ATS their last 6 overall
- Thunder are 8-3 ATS their last 11 games
Free Chicago Bulls vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Prediction:
Very few people give Chicago any chance of winning this game outright. That being said 13 points is a lot to give up to a team that just beat you SU last week. Do the Thunder avenge that loss back on their home court? OKC will be playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on Monday so maybe the stars are aligning for Chicago to at least keep things close.
Chicago is going to take a huge hit with Kris Dunn being out of the lineup for this one. The Bulls still have some talent but you have the feeling that the Thunder can blow them out of the water any time they want. Whether they will or not is the big question.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Thunder – 13
The Bulls are probably either going to get killed or win outright. It’s actually the OKC bench that decides this one.
