The Bulls won in Atlanta on Friday night in that 4OT game that saw 47 points from Zach LaVine, 49 from Trae Young, and nearly 45 minutes from the ancient Vince Carter.

The two teams rematched on Sunday in Chicago and the home team lost again. Alex Len led the Hawks to a much tamer victory, 123–118, with 28 points. Lauri Markkanen led the Bulls with 19.

LaVine was listed as day-to-day before the game with back problems but he played; he only scored 12 points with two rebounds and two assists, though.
It was just Chicago’s second loss in six games, post-break. The win streak just about takes the Bulls out of the running for the most ping-pong balls, which goes to the three worst teams in the NBA, which will be Cleveland, New York and Phoenix.
The relieving news is that Chicago doesn’t have much further to fall in the lottery standings. Atlanta with 21 wins is the closest tank competition, followed by Washington with 25 wins. The Bulls probably won’t finish better than either of those teams, even if they continue to play better down the stretch.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers last played on Saturday night, when they lost at home to a hot Magic team that got 50 points between Nic Vucevic and Terrence Ross. Bojan Bogdanovic and Darren Collison led Indiana with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
Domantas Sabonis did not play, due to a bad ankle. He’s missed Indiana’s last three games, though he’s considered day-to-day and very well may return after a couple more days off to recover.

The Pacers are still better than both Philadelphia and Boston in the Eastern Conference. I’ve kind of just been assuming (and really looking forward to) that Milwaukee will play either Philly or Boston and Toronto will play the other. It won’t be possible if the 76ers and Celtics play in the 4/5 game, though.
