Tuesday, November 1st finds the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets playing the first of their four scheduled matches this season. Brooklyn will host again on November 9th while the Bulls will host on January 4th and February 24th.
The Bulls played a back-to-back set Friday versus the Spurs (124-129) and Saturday against the 76ers (109-114) losing both games.
Brooklyn completed a baseball set versus the Pacers with the second meeting the front side of this back-to-back set. They lost to Indy 125-116 on Saturday but got their revenge Monday winning 116-109.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Bulls taking two of the three contests. The Bulls hold the advantage all-time having won 96 times of the club’s 179 meetings.
Chicago Bulls
Week two of NBA action served up a split for the Bulls beating the Celtics and Pacers but losing to the Spurs and 76ers.
The Bulls backcourt of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are combining for 48.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and two steals. LaVine is serving it up from deep connecting with 46.4% efficiency on seven attempted triples per game.
The third member of the Big 3 – Nikola Vucevic is averaging a double-double of 17 points and 11.9 rebounds.
Last season the Bulls got out to a blistering start and then injuries took their toll particularly on the defensive side of the hardwood with the club struggling to beat the elite teams.
The hope is Lonzo Ball will be able to return in late December or the New Year and bolster the Bulls for the second half. For now, they’re in the middle of the pack ranking 20th offensively and tied for 13th defensively.
Chicago allows opponents to score 113.1 points per 100 possessions tied for 15th. Their rivals fare well from an efficiency perspective shooting 47.8 percent from the field (24th) and 43.2 percent from the perimeter (28th).
Andre Drummond (shoulder) and Ayo Dosunmu (chest) are questionable for Tuesday. Lonzo Ball (knee) is out until late December.
Brooklyn Nets
Despite the win on Monday, the situation in Brooklyn is far from resolved. On any given night Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving can score 30 or 40 points each but they’ve done that in recent games and still suffered the loss.
On the season this superstar duo is combining for 62.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 2.3 steals, and 3.4 blocks. They’re both struggling from the perimeter however with KD shooting 31.3% on 5.3 attempts and Kyrie shooting 29.3% on 9.7 attempts.
Ben Simmons is shaking off the rust and still seemingly allergic to shooting the ball while also trying to find a rhythm with his teammates and create a flow for the offense.
Joe Harris and Seth Curry should help with floor spacing but so far neither has found their range nor are they or their teammates helping the defensive side of the floor where the Nets are struggling.
Case in point, opponents score 120.3 points per 100 possessions ranking 28th and shoot with great efficiency both from the field – 47.5% (21st) and particularly well from the perimeter – 41.4% (27th).
Seth Curry (ankle) returned to the lineup last week but didn’t play Saturday or Monday and is listed as questionable for Tuesday. TJ Warren (foot) is expected to return in early November.

Free Chicago Bulls vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
Both teams have had their struggles but overall the Bulls have looked like the team with better chemistry. The perimeter could be the difference in this match given how poorly the Bulls defend it but the Nets are also struggling to hit those deep balls.
Let’s assume Steve Nash has his squad prepped to recognize the perimeter could be the difference in Brooklyn finally posting consecutive wins. I’ve waffled on this pick several times but landed on the Nets based on neither team having stellar defense.
