Friday, November 4th, 2022, the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics play for the second of four scheduled meetings this season. In the initial contest, the Bulls won 120-102.
Chicago will host the third meeting on November 21st while Boston hosts the final meeting on January 9th.
Both teams last played Wednesday with the Bulls routing the Hornets 106-88 while the Celtics lost a nail-biter versus the Cavaliers 113-114 in overtime.
In history, the Celtics own the advantage of winning 129 of the clubs’ 237 meetings. Last season the teams played three times with the Celtics winning two of the three contests.
Chicago Bulls
The rivalry between these two clubs has been building over the past few seasons and while the 76ers – Celtics might be a more feisty rivalry make no mistake these two clubs have a rich history of battles.
In the Tuesday victory by the Bulls over the Nets, Zach LaVine put on a show scoring 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter. He also played on Wednesday marking the first time he’s played in a back-to-back set since returning from his knee injury.
The Bulls average 111.4 points per game ranking 22nd while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from the perimeter which ranks 25th and 10th respectively.
Defensively, the Bulls are allowing an average of 108.8 points per game ranking sixth while allowing their foes to shoot 46.9 percent from the field (20th) and 40.3 percent from the perimeter (26th).
Andre Drummond (shoulder) and Coby White (quad) were both downgraded to being out Friday. Lonzo Ball (knee) remains out indefinitely.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics got out of the gate looking every bit like the team analysts and experts projected would win the East and return to the NBA Finals. They won their initial three games versus the 76ers, Heat and Magic.
Then they came up against this Bulls team and not only lost but got blown out and in their next match despite having a substantial rest advantage lost in overtime to the Cavaliers.
They got back on track by defeating the Wizards but lost again in overtime to the Cavs marking their third loss in four games.
Boston scores 116.1 points per game which rank seventh. They shoot 46.8% from the field ranking 12th and 38.0% from the perimeter (8th).
On defense, they allow 114.4 points per game ranking 18th while opponents are shooting 46.0 percent from the field (12th) and 36.2 percent from the perimeter (21st).
Robert Williams III (knee) is out indefinitely. Danilo Gallinari (ACL) is lost for the season.

Free Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics NBA Prediction:
It’s far too early to call this a must-win game but to be clear both teams are definitely wanting the victory and the bragging rights. The Celtics when focused have looked strong but there are definitely issues defensively.
Of course, when Williams returns that will fix much of their current struggles but it’s important for Joe Mazzulla to get his group on board to play with the view of him not returning in order to keep the overall defense high.
The Bulls are in a similar situation as Lonzo Ball is the main cog to their defensive prowess but unlike the Celts they do play as if there is no certainty of Ball’s return.
Either way, I expect a battle but I’ll give the edge to the hometown Celts to win but the Bulls to keep it close.
