The Hornets are supposed to be one of the worst team in the NBA this season. That is probably true but they have not sunk there yet.
The Clippers are supposed to be one of the best and we have already seen flashes but they are off a loss.
No matter the current states and futures of these teams this looks like a big mismatch on Sunday night.
Charlotte Hornets
Charlotte won their opener by a point but was hammered in their last game by Minnesota. A third quarter that saw them yield 45 points did them in.
There have been some early surprises with the Hornets though, beginning with the fact that they are currently first in the NBA in 3PT% – at 47.9.

Hot shooting is the reason Devonte’ Graham is leading the club in scoring at 23ppg. He has made 12 of 16 threes showing scoring chops we never even saw at Kansas.
His scoring has taken some of the attention away from the fact that they have not gotten much out of Terry Rozier so far. His 8 assists per game are nice but he has struggled with scoring.
Rookie PJ Washington has been a nice surprise contributing to the hot shooting of the Hornets, They are starting him which is more than I expected this early.
Second year man Miles Bridges is the guy they need to take a big step forward this season. If he can play like a stud they might have a building block there.
This is going to be a tough game for Charlotte, especially with them facing the Lakers the day before.
Los Angeles Clippers
After a couple of wins the Clippers got bested on the road at Phoenix. They were not going to win them all but the spot was surprising.

Kawhi Leonard has looked just as good for the Clippers as he did winning a title with Toronto last season. The starting lineup is a little light right now without Paul George though. He had 27 against the Suns but no other starter had more than 11.
Super subs Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell had 23 and 28 points though. The overall stats show that Phoenix was just a little warmed from deep that that is what made the difference in the loss.
Getting back home to take on a Charlotte team that is limited should be just what the doctor ordered for L.A. They are still feeling some things out as they await the healthy arrival of George.
