Hornets vs. Celtics Gameday
Tuesday offers a full slate of NBA action with ten matches on tap, including the Charlotte Hornets versus the Boston Celtics. Both teams last played on Sunday.
Charlotte took advantage of no Anthony Edwards to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-108. Four Hornets scored in double digits. LaMelo Ball stepped up to lead the way with 35 points and eight assists on a night when neither Kon Knueppel nor Brandon Miller had it rolling.
Boston battled the Toronto Raptors with copious lead changes through three quarters, but they flipped a switch in the fourth quarter to collect the easy 115-106 victory.
Five players scored in double figures, led by Jaylen Brown with 26 points and six rebounds, while Jayson Tatum delivered a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds plus seven assists and three blocks.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Boston Celtics Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head last season, the Celtics dominated, sweeping the four-game series, while this year the teams have each won once.
Charlotte sits in the eighth seed in the East in a three-way tie with Philly and Orlando, all possessing a 43-36 record. Wins, tiebreakers, and performances against their own division will ultimately decide where they finish.
Boston sits in second in the East with a 53-25 record, 2.5 games ahead of the Knicks and trailing the Pistons by 3.5 games. The Celtics are 10-2 through their last 12 matches and are rolling into the postseason with arguably the best momentum in the East.
The Celtics are favored to win by 5.5 points with an over/under of 219.5.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Boston Celtics bottom line:
With the stretch run in full effect, teams have a few games left to improve upon their positions and fix any glaring errors.
Charlotte has the most difficult remaining strength of schedule, with three games remaining (Celtics, Pistons, Knicks). Two of those matches are on the road, and every game is important for seeding.
Boston has a chance to catch the Pistons with Cunningham out, but would need Detroit to lose out while they win out. Suffice to say that’s unlikely to happen, so there may be some games the Celts rest Brown and Tatum to prepare for the postseason. Boston has games left against the Hornets, Knicks (at NY), Pelicans, and Magic.

Hornets Celtics Free Pick: Celtics -5.5
Here is my Hornets Celtics free pick.
This has the potential to be a highly entertaining and competitive match with both clubs looking to fire away from deep. Pace will also be a factor as the Celtics look to slow things down to the half-court and the Hornets look to gun and run.
The glass should also play a role as the Celtics utilize rebounds to collect second-chance scoring, while the Hornets will seek to force turnovers and get out in the fast break.
Boston continues to rely heavily on the perimeter, shooting (36.4) and making (15.2) the third most per game. Charlotte ranks third in efficiency (38.1%) and first in makes (16.4) per game. Ironically, both clubs allow their opponents to shoot 36% from deep.
Both teams have looked great lately, and each brings a winning streak into this match. As much as the Celtics have been serving, I’m just not sure how invested they are in winning since they have all but sewn up second place. This match, then, could become a situation where the Hornets benefit from Boston’s lack of immediacy.
While I think the Celtics have likely come to terms with finishing second, it would behoove them to win this game and cement that seeding.
For that reason, I’ll take the Celtics to win and cover.
