*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Wednesday, March 8th. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Thursday, March 9th.
Brooklyn Nets
An easier strength of schedule has helped the Nets retain their seeding, at least for the moment as they’ve strung together three wins in a row to hold off the Heat who trail them by 3.0 games.
Granted the defeat of the Celtics was a quality win but Brooklyn will be tested in their next three games facing both conference leaders and the scrappy Wolves.
Stats
Brooklyn allows 112.6 points ranking 11th and possesses the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage of 46.2% but ranks 25th on perimeter defense as foes shoot 37.2% from deep.
Brooklyn scores 113.6 points per game ranking 18th. They own the third-best field goal percentage, shooting 49.5%, and also rank third on the perimeter shooting 38.4% from deep.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Spencer Dinwiddie PG (OUT—rest)
- Ben Simmons PG (OUT indefinitely— Knee)
- Royce O’Neale SF (OUT indefinitely— Knee)
- Cameron Johnson, SG (OUT indefinitely— Knee)
- Nicolas Claxton, C (OUT indefinitely—thumb)
Milwaukee Bucks
While the Celtics deal with a bit of a stumble the Bucks just keep rolling even without Giannis or Jrue Holiday playing. It should be a major warning sign for opponents that Milwaukee can score over 130 points without arguably their best two players.
Boston has lost four of seven since returning from the break while the Bucks streak ended at 16 but they’re 6-1 since coming back and seem to be getting even stronger.
With Milwaukee now up 2.0 games on Boston, Coach Budenholzer has the benefit of resting his core here and there as they build toward the postseason with only six (maybe seven) tough games left on their itinerary.
Stats
Opponents score the fifth-fewest points with the Bucks allowing 111.7 per game limiting opponents to 45.2% from the field and 34.3% from deep ranking second in both categories.
Offensively, the Bucks score 115.8 points per game ranking ninth, while shooting 46.7% from the field and 36.5% from the perimeter ranking 20th and 11h in the latter two categories.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Goran Dragic, PG (downgraded to OUT— knee)
- Wesley Matthews SG (downgraded to OUT— calf)
- Jrue Holiday, PG (upgraded to probable—neck)
- Jae Crowder, SF (upgraded to probable—ankle)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF ((upgraded to probable—illness)

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Loyal readers will note I warned of trouble in Boston when the teams returned from the break based on them almost losing to the Pacers and by how easily they fell to the Nets.
It doesn’t mean Boston won’t be in the mix at the end of the postseason but I’m much more confident the Bucks will represent the East.
As for the Nets I felt the shuffled post trade roster had a chance to be incredible defensively and while they have shown both positives and negatives there is a solid core in hand only need the one right superstar to make them a perennial playoff team.
The injury list is still too vague for the Bucks and I’ve vacillated back and forth but with Claxton out and Giannis probable, coupled with the Bucks beating the Nets by 14 just a few games ago, ultimately I’m taking the Bucks to cover.
