Saturday, March 26th, finds the Brooklyn Nets facing the Miami Heat for the fourth and final time this season. The Heat are up 3-0 having won 106-93 on October 27th, 115-111 on February 12th, and 113-107 on March 3rd.
Brooklyn has the decided rest advantage having last played Wednesday losing 120-132 to the Grizzlies while the Heat are playing a back-to-back set having lost 103-111 to the Knicks.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Heat taking two of the three contests. The Heat holds the all-time record with 78 wins in 132 matches versus the Nets.
Brooklyn Nets
Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving may have to send thank you cards to the Yankees and Mets or if they’re feeling really generous to New York Mayor Eric Adams.
Adams had undoubtedly felt the pressure of the Nets fans who haven’t witnessed star Irving in a game at Barclays all season because he wasn’t vaccinated.
This in spite of visiting teams with unvaccinated players being allowed to participate in the same maches Irving was ineligible for.
The hypocrisy notwithstanding, it wasn’t the pressure KD, the NBA, the Nets franchise or fan base put on Adams. Rather, it was a result of COVID-19 and the variants infection decreasing (and again, no doubt pressure from MLB).
Also not surprising, Irving was all smiles following their last game hinting he’d be happy to talk to the media once things were made official.
However, when media arrived at Barclays hoping to capture those sound bites in typical Irving fashion he sent the spokes people back out with the message Irving would not address the media.
Hey – some things never change.
And while things are definitely looking up the Nets aren’t likely to catch the trio of teams in front of them to avoid the play-in. Nor will they be able to change the vaccine mandates in Canada (where Irving still can’t play) should the Raptors land in seventh.
More importantly, there are issues to iron out with the Nets chemistry, specific lineups and whether Ben Simmons will be able to return to the court this season. Never mind the Nets are 8-12 in the 20 games Irving has participated this season.
Seth Curry (ankle) and Goran Dragic (knee) are probable for Saturday. LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) and Ben Simmons (back) are out indefinitely. Joe Harris (ankle) is lost for the season.
Miami Heat
Just a week to 10 days ago it appeared as if the Heat had sewn up the top seed in the East with a decent padding over the chase pack. Erik Spoelstra and this iteration of the team had navigated more than their fair share of injuries and succeeded in spite of it.
But this past week the Heat replicated something they’d only done twice prior this season — losing ethree games in a row. Making matters worse those losses occurred against teams missing their superstars.
Joel Embiid and James Harden were out Monday in Philly, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Otto Porter Jr. sat Wednesday without punishment as the Heat fell 104-118 to the Warriors. And on Friday, lost to the Julius Randle-less Knicks.
Adding increased glare from the media spotlight Butler, Udonis Haslem and coach Spo got into it on the bench with the fracasss moving out on hardwood. in the middleof Wednesday.
While it was expected thiings would be back on track for Friday’s mach –they’ve lost again to a lottery bound Knicks club.
Tyler Herro (knee) was downgraded to out Friday but was upgraded to questionable for Saturday. Victor Oladipo (knee) and Gabe Vincent (toe) are also questionable versus the Nets.

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
.The line opened in favor of Miami but shifted to the Nets no doubt tied to the rest variance and the reeling Heat. The question is whether the Heat can snap out of this mini maliaise to get back on track.
Miami has the rest disadvantage but are undoubtedly prepared for this game in particular and will be looking to send a message.
