As can be seen, both teams last played Friday with the Brooklyn Nets pulling out a 124-123 squeaker versus the Timberwolves while the Denver Nuggets lost a 120-129 shocker to the Spurs.
At this time, the Nets are 37-30 overall against the spread this season. Also, they are 20-16 ATS as the away team. At this time, the Nuggets are 36-30-1 against the spread this season. Also, they are 14-18 ATS as the home team
Sunday, March 12th, finds the Brooklyn Nets and Denver Nuggets meeting for the first of two scheduled matches this season with Brooklyn hosting on March 19th.
The Nuggets hold the all-time record having bested the Nets in 52 of their 96 meetings. Last season the squads played twice with Denver winning both contests.

Jacques Vaughan may have been playing possum with his injury report, listing Nic Claxton, Cameron Johnson and Royce O’Neale all as questionable — they ALL played.
I picked the Wolves to cover thinking Claxton was out but with that trio healthy it’s not surprising the Nets were able to not just upset the spread but steal the game. This team is full of two-way players which makes them more formidable than most give them credit for.
Brooklyn allows 112.9 points ranking 12th and possesses the fourth-best opponent field goal percentage of 46.2% but ranks 24th on perimeter defense as foes shoot 37.1% from deep.
Brooklyn scores 113.7 points per game ranking 18th. They own the third-best field goal percentage, shooting 49.3%, and also rank third on the perimeter shooting 38.5% from deep.
To summarize the injury report…
- Ben Simmons PG (OUT indefinitely— Knee)
In recent previews I highlighted the drop off of the Nuggets noting it seems centered in the lack of urgency. Not having to worry about seeding whether conscious or subconscious is impacting their effort particularly on the defensive side of the court.
Michael Malone definitely senses the slide and encouraged his team to bounce back after the rout by the Bulls and Scott Foster’s gift versus the Raptors. But the team failed to respond losing to the Spurs which should finally drive home his concerns.
On the positive side, Denver possesses one of the two best offenses in the league highlighted by scoring 116.9 points per game ranking seventh. Denver is shooting the best field goal percentage of 50.8% as well as the second-best perimeter efficiency of 38.9%.
The recent stumbles are reflecting more on the defensive side of the court with the Nuggets allowing opponents to score 112.9 points per game which ranks 13th while limiting foes to 48% from the field and 34.7% from deep ranking 23rd and fifth respectively
Denver hadn’t submitted their updated injury report as of posting but to this is who is likely on the list…
- Zeke Nnaji PF (OUT—shoulder)
- Collin Gillespie PG (OUT—leg fracture)

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
A week of uninspired ball is wrapping up for the Nuggets with an opportunity to get back on track.
Normally, I’d easily pick Denver, but their recent efforts are well below their potential. In contrast, the Nets are playing with a sense of urgency motivated by their precarious hold on a playoff seed (of note, with the Knicks’ loss the Nets moved back into fifth).
I’ll roll the dice once more for the Nuggets to rediscover their desire and effort as they remind everyone why the top position in the West is so secure.
