Sunday, March 6th, 2022, the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics meet for the fourth and final time this season. The Celtics lead the series 2-1 having won February 8th (126-91) and 24th (129-106) matches while the Nets won on November 24th (123-104).
Both teams last played on Thursday with the Nets losing 107-113 to the Heat while the Celtics defeated the Grizzlies 120-107.

Brooklyn Nets
Kevin Durant made his return to the hardwood after missing 21 games due to a knee sprain. While he was out his Nets struggled and through the last 19 games are 3-16.
That they only fell to eighth is a minor miracle given all those losses but it also highlights the teams below them are equally struggling.
Despite all the losses the oddsmakers still have the Nets ranked first or second to win the title. The prevailing thoughts are Durant and Irving will both be playing with Ben Simmons fitting in seamlessly.
While that’s not necessarily a bold statement it does require some buy-in since Simmons has yet to play and Irving still can’t play at Barclays (or Toronto if they have to go there for a play-in game).
Durant played 35 minutes in his return producing 31 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a block.
Seth Curry (ankle) is probable for Sunday. Irving is ineligible at Barclays. Ben Simmons (conditioning) is out indefinitely and Joe Harris (ankle) is out for the season.
Boston Celtics
While the Nets have sputtered and are fighting to move back out of the play-in tournament seeding the Celtics are arguably the hottest team in the association.
During their recent success, they moved ahead of the Raptors and this week pulled ahead of the Cavaliers into the fifth seed. Now they set their sights on the Bucks and Bulls who reside in third and fourth but are only 1.5 games ahead of them in the standings.
It’s feasible Boston could continue to climb and even land the top seed since they are only two games back of second and 4.5 of first overall. Especially with their top-ranked defense propelling their efforts.
Memphis was the other hot club but in the match between those clubs, it was Boston who prevailed with six Celtics scoring in double-digits and Jayson Tatum leading the way with 37 points.
Jalen Brown (ankle) is questionable to play versus the Nets on Sunday. Aaron Nesmith (ankle) was downgraded to out.

Although this is an early start expect both teams to treat this like a playoff game. Durant no doubt will be fired up but so too will the Celtics who haven’t been discussed as title contenders so a win today would be of the statement variety.
