Since returning from the break the Nets have a single victory out of five games. Making matters worse they’ve lost games to lottery teams (Hawks), ones in the hunt with them for the seventh and eighth seed (Magic) and teams chasing them to unseat them (Wizards).
Brooklyn entered last week in seventh and begin week 20 in eighth with the Wizards four games back of them.

In the loss to the Heat, Spencer Dinwiddie (25 points, 12 assists) and Jarrett Allen (17 points, 11 rebounds) each produced double-doubles. Joe Harris (20), Caris LeVert (15), Wilson Chandler (11) and Taurean Prince 10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Spencer Dinwiddie leads the team in scoring (20.9) and assists (6.8). Allen tops field goal percentage (65.0%) and blocks (1.4) DeAndre Jordon for rebounds (9.9) and Taurean Prince for steals (0.9).
Caris LeVert is dealing with a right-hand contusion making his presence questionable on Tuesday.

Boston Celtics
Small ball was on full display Saturday night as the two clubs who represent it best put on a show at the Garden. It took overtime to decide but ultimately the Celtics fell to the Rockets by a single point.
Jayson Tatum remains on a hot streak and led his Celtics in the match versus the Rockets producing a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds.
The trio of Marcus Smart (26), Jaylen Brown (22), and Gordon Hayward (18) all served up double-digit efforts and ensured a balanced attack by the Celtics. The problem which was clear by the absence of scoring from the reserves is the lack of depth on the Celtics team.
The other issue typically is dealing with length upfront, but Daniel Theis continues to play much bigger than his actual size pulling down 15 rebounds versus the Rockets.
Team leaders in key categories are Kemba Walker for assists (5.0) Gordon Hayward for field goal percent (50.4%), and Daniel Theis for blocks (1.3). Jayson Tatum leads the other three categories including scoring (23.5), rebounding (7.1) and steals (1.3).
Walker’s return date remains questionable since he had his knee drained and injected to offset the swelling and pain. With the Raptors on a losing streak, it gives the Celtics a bit of leeway to exercise caution in his return date.
Boston noted Robert Williams III (bone edema, hip) was practicing with the team a week ago and Boston expected him back when the team returned from the western road trip. He did not play in the game versus the Rockets and his return remains uncertain.
